rear view mirror halo effect

Anybody else seen or dealt with this problem?
The rear view mirror autodims at night. Well, I have a ring/halo around the outside of the mirror surface that does not dim. The inside of the halo dims normally.
What the heck is going on here? This can't be normal, right? The whole mirror surface should be dimmed. There is about a 1cm halo all around the mirror that doesn't dim anymore, so that can provide some nasty glare at times when you look rearward through the mirror.
Any insight or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

That automatic dim mirror is my least favorite thing about the CL.
Would like to find a cheap way get a regular manual mirror installed. Anyone done this ?

Mine did the same thing, so I took it in and the dealer replaced it at no charge. I think a few others here have mentioned it happening before, as well.

Just press the button on the underside of the mirror, disbaling the auto-dim function.

Was actually put a post on this also, glad to see im not the only one with this problem. Mine is not a complete Halo though only on my drivers seat half for now, assuming it will spread. Putting on my list of issues to take to dealer.

I also have this problem -- it looks like crap -- I've had the car almost 3 years, but I've only noticed this happening in the past year or so. Mine isn't just a halo either, it's almost an INCH around the WHOLE mirror, and it's worse in some spots, so there's a very 'uneven' effect about it.

Is it even worth taking to the dealer, my lease is up in 6 months -- and would they even replace it at this point ??

Guys:
Thanks a lot for your replies. Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue.
Our warantee is 4 years 50k miles right? I'm just above 48k, so I better hurry to the shop.
Or does the 100k warantee cover everything? I'm talking about the 100k extension Acura granted due to their crap trannies busting. Just curious.
BTW, the dealership replaced my tranny and I now believe that it wasn't really broken. Oh well, who cares because it didn't cost anything and now I've got a new tranny. My "weird shifting" and sluggishness turned out to be an air flow issue.
Or the tranny, LOL, according to the money-grubbing dealer. (After all, Acura paid them for the work they did).

The warranty extension only applies to the transmission .So if the car is getting near 50 k time to go and get a the mirror .While you are there inquire about an extended warranty .Even though your car is nearly out you can still get the official factory warranty extension but only while the car is under factory warranty .I have seen this warranty save innumerable dollars for our customers who have had things break .Jens
