Rear-view mirror dying???
Rear-view mirror dying???
So I got into my car this morning and noticed this black, oily dripage on my shifter cover and was like, "hmm where'd that come from?" Anyways I wiped it away and found that it corroded or melted, whatever you want to call it, my plastic little shifter cover. So now I am really confused. Mind boggled, I drive off seconds later to see that my rear-view mirror is fogged up so I try to wipe it down a little but nothing doing. And then I see a little black ball of fluid about to drip from the bottom and it is the same shit that corroded my shifter plate. Anyways my mirror is not clearing up so I assume it is the night/day shit inside that dims headlights or whatever. Anyone think this is going to get worse and most likely completely fog over? Is it covered by warranty? (hopefully, because I gots' no job or money)
Or look in the FAQ...

Remove the mirror ASAP and then search for that thread^.
I tried to get mine replaced my Magna Donelly for free, but they gave me the run around, I ended up buying a new mirror from the dealership for $67. Maybe you will have better luck!

Electrochromatic or something like that. When your mirror senses the light change when its dark outside and headlights are behind you, the mirror sends a electrical current to charge the liquid. The liquid turns black and tints your rearview mirror. How did you think your auto tinting rearview mirror worked?
The new versions have a solid core instead of liquid so the replacement should have no more problems.
