Rear shelf rattle drives me NUTS!
My rear shelf acts like its not screwed down. It resonates with the radio, particularly low tones. Howard Stern really sets it off. Any of course driving over anything rougher than prefectly smooth asphalt also makes it rattle. I've wacked it with my fingers and I can reproduce the rattle. I just can figure out where its coming from. It doesn't seem the be the brake light. Any ideas?

I'm figuring that it is something hard (plastic?) that is right up to the glass back there. You think you have it bad. I have a 12" JL facing up at an angle, right there (no dynomat yet).

Some people have been putting double sided sticky pad things to stop the rattle.
But nobody has posted a picture yet to actually show you how or where to put them.
I think Ken (Satin01CL) has put these things on. I know he has a digicam so maybe he can give us some pics.
That rattle is killin me too.

i originally thought it was my speaker that was blown already, so i put on so low bass music, heard the rattle clearly, and pressed the shelf down and the rattle went away...
i guess like adamn said the sticky tape would do

Its really shitty to have woofers mounted on a surface that vibrates... we lose all of the impact our woofers have due to vibrations. Really sucks.
Acura could improve their sound system by 100% by simply fastening that rear shelf down.

I agree Soopa,
My rear deck rattles ferociously now whenever the music is up more than 25% vol. The other thing is the panel where the drivers side seatbelt retracts into rattles with the music as well. I'm waiting for some warmer weather to investigate.

Well, I think I got the rear shelf silenced. It was a slightly different take on what others have done. I hope you can see in the pics, but basically I cut two strips of speaker carpet about 1.5" wide by 20" long and folded it into the gap btwn the shelf and rear glass. I didnt realize how much space was back there until I press on the shelf and it moved nearly 0.5". It took a little patience to get it in there but I think it looks ok and seems to have silenced the rattle demons. You cant really see it from the exterior either. So here's the pics:

Im gonna have to try that...
Another thing though...
Does anyone elses car rattle very sporadically...
My car hadnt rattled at all for weeks... and even when it was... it wasn that bad.
Then all of the sudden last night... the car started rattling from every f*ckin inch of its soul!
I had to keep elbowing the arm rest on the drivers door to keep the thing from rattling.
Then id have to lean on it with my weight to shut it up after hitting it stopped working.
Anyway... I'll add this one to the archive.
