Rear rotors worn unevenly

So I got new rotors and am in no dire rush to put them on as I am busy with school. But I I noticed my rear rotors are both worn unevenly. Each rotor is a mm thinner at the top than the bottom ? I was told I may have seized calipers? Anyone know how to fix this problem?

It depends where the pads are hanging up. It may be as simple as cleaning some crud off of the pad mounting brackets, or re-lubing the guide pins and other parts.

If the caliper(s) are actually seized, you could either rebuild or replace them. Personally, the OEM versions are cheap enough where I would just replace them and save some time if this is the problem.

they are painted red tho and i don't wanna order more friking paint for 60$ then paint them blah blah...

im hoping it's the sliders or something... but both rotors are worn the exact same way.. so at least there is some symmetry to the madness.

maybe this is how it's supposed to be?? i unno

order the rebuild kit from acura/honda, it's relatively cheap. Now if you do the front and have legend calipers... $65 for both fronts. My rears are fine other than the rotors were warped and I had them turned. Now my car doesn't vibrate during ANY braking. If you do the rebuild, just get the kit and pop the piston with compressed air. Make sure you cushion it with some wood or something so you don't damage the caliper piston. replace the rubber piston guide ring but do a thorough cleaning of the inside of the caliper and the pistons, a lot of build-up in mine.

This write up was extremely helpful along with many youtube vids.

When you get to steps 14, 15, and 16; be careful that round piston boot was really tricky and hard to get squared in. But that was on the legend calipers where it was 2 for each side. It took me about 2 hours for removal cleaning and install but that boot seating added an extra five hours. I had to install the piston and pop it out with compressed air several times to make sure it was FULLY seated.

If I was you, given your busy schedule and what not, I would simply get the rotors turned and change the pads for now. If the rotors are too thin to be turned then I would buy some new ones and do the rebuild.

Before you order a rebuild kit you should take the pads off and look at them. On a lot of the aftermarket pads for our generation they will put this extra pin on the pad. The piston hits it causing the pad to not hit the rotor evenly. I would check that before rebuilding or ordering new calipers.

I already have the rotors and pads for front and rear. I will defs do that Stephen. I have a feeling I don't need to rebuild them as both calipers are producing identical results on each rotor. Thanks fellas.
