Rear Defroster not working
Rear Defroster not working
I checked the fuse and sure enough the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse but the defroster still does not work. I noticed that there is a clicking noise on the right side fuse panel every time I turn the defroster on. Any one experiencing this problem? If so, has anyone fixed the problem? Thanks in advance.
I had that problem, only everytime I replaced the fuse and turned the defrost on, it would blow the fuse again. After two trips to the dealer, they realized that there was a short in the rear window somewhere so they ended up replacing the whole rear glass. I was still under warranty so it was totally free, otherwise it would have cost about $1000 to do.
I drove to the dealer after having 1 foot of snow fall in the chicago area with no defroster. I asked to see a technical manual showing if a rear defroster relay existed. It does. It is located behind the passengers fuse panel. You need to remove the glove box to gain access to the relay. The relay is green and was able to gain access to the relay and have them order a new relay. When the relay is replaced I will repost a reply to let everyone know if the relay solves the issue of the non-functional rear defroster.
