Really Scary Motorweek Show
Really Scary Motorweek Show
This past Friday on Motorweek they tested the new 3.5 5-speed Altima.
0-60 5.9 sec
1/4 mile 14.4 @ 100MPH
I may be a hundreth off on the 1/4 time and a couple 10ths off on the miles, but that's all.
I was thinking Nissan would be short of their numbers as they always are, but maybe not this time.
I will say that there has been thoughts that Nissan delivers "tweaked" cars, but again, maybe not this time.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Come on mystery mod! We may need you!

Its not that big of a deal. Maybe our cars arent as fast. I still bought my car for the performance/looks/luxury it had. Sure I modded it to get more performance, but as the years go by you cant expect other cars not to beat us. Standards are raising

I just hope the mystery mod is a really solid mod that isn't testy or a pain to live with.

Anyway, I' m with you. I didn't buy my TLS for speed. If I wanted speed I would have bought a M3 or something I could really modify.

First off, I agree with Kensteele--I cannot live with being beaten by an Altima! WTF is the world coming to? If this isn't a sure sign that the apocalypse is near than I don't know what is!!!
Didn't Nostradamus say that the end would come when an Altima bested a CLS?
Second off, Ruf 87, can you honsetly say you didn't buy the TLS for the speed or are you just emabarassed that they got better times for the Altima than us? Why not just get the TL then?
I happen to think that the new Altima is a better looking car than the Maxima (at least on the outside) and it is definitely fast. I have a feeling that Nissan is pushing the Max to go up against the *gasp* Avalon! If you don't like being beaten by an Altima, what are you gonna do when a Subie WRX whoops us?

I am sure that you would beat a 5-speed Altima 3 out of 5 times at the track.....
A 14.4s @ 100MPH is only in the magazine papers only ... track is different.

It all depends how u drive it....besides....Nissan is known for their poor manual transmissions.... AN i dont believe in those auto shows on television....they are biased ....i think one of them tested the cls 0-60 in like 7+ seconds...my ass
that guy prob doens't know how to drive or didn't turn vsa off.
I think all Nissans have problems with thier interior. Maybe exept for Infinity
I havent seen the interior of an altima, but I have always liked the interior of the Maximas.

I didn't buy my TLS just because it was faster than the TLS. I bought it because it was faster and handled better than the TLS. However, I considered other cars that would have been faster or more easily modified to be faster.
So I did not buy the TLS because I thought it was the fastest car out there. More specifically faster than a Maxima or Altima. And yes, if I were buying right now, I would look at the Altima, which I've seen, and I would still buy the TLS.
