really good run with a WS6 and really bad run with 99+GT

heading down the road and here comes this mean sounding GT wheels and 275 nitto 555R's he goes once beside me from a roll i was near the top of 2nd he caught me off gaurd then i hit the rev limiter bad...im sure he was laughin...callin me a ricer to his friends (2 passengers ) then we catch a light...sorta ...i speed up to get down to the light and get set up ...he kinda coasted in...the light goes green before he comes to a stop ,he nails it...puts a few cars on me and shuts it down...so i pace him...im mouthing to his friends tell him to go...(now im in a good spot in 2nd 50mph... the freinds shaking his head no...a couple more times still nothing...im thinking he figures he's wasting his time...too bad coulda been a good run...this was a vert BTW....now on to the good stuff...

WS6...problem here is i dont no what year it was? it had the big ram air hood kinda of pointed front pop up head lights and the big round fogs...this is on the way back from trying to get the stanger to go....were driving fast but he doesnt seem to want any...i go by this vette C5 hoping he'll play win or lose i dont care and he just minds his own...now this time me and the vette catch a light and the WS6 pulls in behind the vette (good choice ) figuring the vettte 's gonna smoke me and he'll have room to get by me as well...well the vette doesnt wanna play, fine by me...but i roll out and then hit it hard and the 6 tries to go around and catch up...but he cant...now me and him have the light....here's where he makes a mistake, instead of the hard launch..where i think his advantage lies...we roll out half throttle then about one car hit it hard and im in front...2 nd still in front 3rd looks like he's comin but he doenst get there ,100 mph comin up quick.. looks like he could go by, but he shuts it down....after that he wouldnt drive past me wouldnt look over,,,nothin...too bad i would have just given the thumbs up and said cool...i guess thumbs up from the ricer is no good...oh BTW 60* and very dry...nicey nice

This is very hard to hard story to beleeve, but oh well. Driving skill means more than some ppl think.

Good kill, but when you do meet up with a competent driver in ANY LS1, watch out....

Ummm whats a SLP V8??? lol WS6's have the LS1. The WS6 is just a Ram Air Trans Am. Extra $$$ for the snorkel hood and a ram air airbox total adds about 5 hp above 100mph.

SLP modified the SS's and Firehawk's. NO f-body comes factory SC'd.

TypeR - good kill - was it a auto? Auto's trap .1-.2 slower than the M6's but the M6's are a bear to launch. Now that ya got a stock LS1 under your belt ya gonna go find a stroked one? hehe

so all WS6' are LS-1's? i thought there were LT-1 s also or from my description you could tell this was an LS?...im almost positive it was an auto...I've personally witnessed a 13.1 LS-1 with just SLP exhaust which is a dealer option...but ive also witnessed 13.97...again it's the 60' ...and he gave it up

Yeah- the guy in the WS 6 is a moron- you can't mash the gas in 1st gear and expect to do anything but spin your tires and get your ass handed to you.
Nice Kill- bet he's wondering what the hell your car has done to it.

he didnt spin we rolled out like half throttle then hit it...advatage me...because i can have a tendency to smok 'em off the line and there big torque in that car can get them out of the hole and rolling quick...and as i said it appeared that he could have went by me at about 90 but he shut it down as he was just about beside me...
Sounds like an LS1.
...from the looks of the pic is was ceratainly an LS1 between the fogs and the hood

this guy for example ...obviously the LS1 is capable of low 13's with good weather ,and on rear occassions 12.9 ...and this gentlemans time ,though isnt great, isnt the worst either, and on the street more variables....i've trapped 102, and in better weather think i can trap with the same set up 103, thats tops for me... an average ls1, 105, it's not so unbelievable... hell even 101 to 105 and on the street, im usually ready to shut it down at 80 or so...with these two cars the one that gets out first will stay out until that speed...more than likely... third gear is where an LS1 is the most powerfull, especially when talking about the auto.

Sure, but just to let u know, a cam is going in my car next week, which will give me just a little over the 400 mark, and traps of 118-120 After that, who knows, heads, N20 ...We'll see...
BTW what does a stang like urs run/trap with that kind of rwhp?

So far my best is only 13.1@107.7
That was w/ stock suspension, first time on DRs (ever), and 2.73 gearing in the rear. I recently put Lakewood 90/10 struts and Fox 4cyl springs up front. Next time out, I should have high 12s no problem. Once I get some cash ($659), I'm getting an Eaton posi, 31 spline axles, 4:30s and some 15" BFG DRs

That should get me low 12s, I hope and maybe high 11s if I can drive w/ ET Streets/Drags

I'm on StangNet also......

i'm on stangnet too...Yeah some gears for you and 12s should be no problem, 11s would be though with the trap speed of only 108 ...Best of luck to ya, its all about traction...

WOW....that was so far off. lol. LS1 is 98-2002, LT1 is 93-97. WS6 and SS had an SLP package, which is pretty much a few bolt ons and suspension. NO F-bodies came from the factory with a S/C, they are just fast naturally aspirated. Whether the car was an LT1 or LS1 I find it hard to believe he lost a fair race to CL-S. I had an LT1 Trans Am and it was stock for almost a year, and I would never have lost to a CL, unless it had a gang load of spray and 20 lbs. of boost. Maybe the other driver was half retarded. My car was quick but boy was it a pain the ass. I had that thing up on jack stands for half of its life that i owned it. Much happier in my TSX.

#1 - This thread is from 03.

#2 - typeR runs low 13s. He can definately beat a TA or two.

- back from the grave.

By the way, if I managed to beat a 6.0 GTO with my mods, then there's no question that typeR would be able to as his is faster than mine.

Also, I used to race WS6s and Firehawks back in the days of my 64 Malibu SS. The one things that was consistent - besides beating them all the time - was that they were very inconsistent with their performance. It wasn't unusual to see results of 1sec or more between these cars coming right off the show room.
