I bought mine used and the guy had a 80% tint on it. Basically, it's like not having one except it does keep it cooler when there is direct sun. I'm thinking about getting a deeper tint. Do I basically have to get the old one removed and get a new one? Will $100 cover it?

 

yes you do and no it won't. removing old film is a bitch and a tint job is gonna cost around $200 for a good one.


edit: tint jobs may be cheaper where you are

 

I had mine re-tinted once. It was originally 35% and I couldn't pass inspection so I went to the shop to take it off. Went back to inspection and passed. Then I told the shop to tint it 20%. Just look around for the cheapest place.

If you are ever going to be in the LA area, and can spare a early Sat morning, hook me up a PM and I will give you the number, its in La Habra/Whittier. They are THE best I have ever seen, I have been getting my windows done there for over 10 years. They charged me 140 even for a full tint on the CL-S. I had a bad job done on my Camry, wife tried to surprise me, went to a crappy place, looked all mirrory. they charged me about 40 or 50$ to take off, back window was clean though, no Def damage. They are open on Sat, but you gotta call early, oh yeah, they got the old school black stuff too, not just the fancy formula one and llumar stuff, and they do one hell of a great job on back windows, especially with our "dot matrix" at the top, looks great
