Raped by Civic Hatch

Man this hurts

I see this silver civic running around, steel wheels :bubbarubb and a fart can with a tien sticker, I'm thinking 'ricer in progress' time to show him a real car with real power. Boy was I wrong, I swing out behind him (around a turn at an intersection) and I hit the floor, was getting top his (rear, he had a head start through the turn) bumper through first, shift to second and he is GONE I shut it down at 65, limit was 50, he had me by like 3-5 cars)...B16 with a turbo? but I heard no whine or blow off when he shifted, maybe spraying? I feel so ashamed, this is the first time I have lost to a Civic, and the first time I picked the fight, usually the Civics wanna run me.

Am I the only one who doesn't think "POS" or "ricer in progress " when I see a modded civic? Ever wonder what BMW M5 drivers think about modded CL's? By the way a Civic doesn't need to be on the bottle or forced induction to be quick.....

I'm not saying that they do have to be, but most are, since its the quick way to do it. There is an allmotor civic in So Cal trying for the 9's, but there is lots of work in that car. My TL's mods are all internal, nothing visible on the outside(except for the tint). If an M5 driver thinks my car is a POS then let him. I know his car is faster, stock for stock, but there ARE comprable CL-S cars...running on forced induction. Most people here would say that they don't like fart cans, park bench spoilers, altezza tails, excessive stickers, etc. Do you NEED one of those exhausts, generally no, they don't give as much as a less cosmetic (to the viewer of the car from the outside) mod like headers. Most of the civics with this stuff on them that I have come across is standard DX, EX or SI models with only cosmetic work.

Thank you Gilgamesh. I'm glad we see it in the same perspective.

Yeah, I've raced a couple of modded ones that either kept up or stayed ahead.

When done right, the car is a tuned car. When done wrong, it's rice. This goes to all cars.

Most ricers don't have a clue what TEIN is. They know Arospeed and crap like that. Nice death.

most likely a motor swap with spray....if you're not spraying, then they've got you on the weight-power ratio....a girl in our group, just switched her setup into a hatch, and her and i are side by side all motor....good death though...

My civic hatch ran 12's NA all day long, so any hatch with a even slightly modified B18C or a new K-series motor will be VERY quick!

People are dumping the new K-series motor in their hatches now... those things are LOW 12-second cars with only an ECU upgrade and a damn intake!!

After buying the hatch, how much does the modded B18C or K cost? I am actually thinking about setting something up for drag races, and maybe even the occasional road race, if they have some good handling mods (civic hatches were pretty solid in that dept. anyway right?)

A JDM B18C will cost between $2000 - $5000 depending on the year, model and mileage of the motor. While a JDM K20A spec R will run you about $5000 - $6000.

Although I have not met anyone who swaps K20As into 92-2000 Civics, but I was told by All_Motor that there are a several sub 2000 civics out there with K series motors. As far as the B18C it will cost you about $1000 to swap it in, including labor and misc. parts. However a Civic hatch with some minor weight reduction and a lightly modded B18C or K20A can beat our CLs with no problem.

I have a OBD-I JDM B18C with ported and polished head that I am selling, if you are interested.

Maybe, but that is only if I don;t have to eat soem moenty and get rid of this TL-S for a CL 6 MT. I think my tranny is going and I don't want to have to deal with it, and that may put my plans on hold that I had for an 05-06 S4...or maybe I just drive around a beater til then, but I like my TL too much.
