Ran a Vortech S/C G35 Coupe

First off let me say that if there is a reason why I don't like to race anyone, its people like this guy. We both made a left turn (he was behind me) and he floors it, so I floor it as well. I wasn't pulling terribly hard, so I figured he has something other than the fancy rims. Anyways, we come to a stop light and he says he will 'show me that he'll smoke me'. Well... stoplights arn't of the greatest advantage for me (FWD vs. RWD), so I try to leave early, but still he gets me off the line and we get to another stop light. Now he's talking major trash... how he'll smoke me... this and that. Anyways, we both launch at the green and obviuosly he takes me by 2-3 car lengths off the line... I shift into 3rd and start reeling him in... the moment I hit his rear bumper (and I am pulling pretty well now) he shuts it down... waves his hands all over and says... 'See... smoked ya!'. I was like... is this the 1/8th mile or what?!?!

Anyways, I know he knows that I would have kicked his ass if it wasn't for that 3-car advantage off the line, but whatever....

In any case, his car was pretty quick... quite quick, must have been 8psi at least.

I know what you mean. Most of us do this for the sport of it. Poor sportsmanship sucks in racing just like any other sport. If the guy shut down after 1/8 mile, he obviously doesn't have the balls to use what he bought and doesn't understand real racing. Hope you find this guy rolling down the Highway some day.

Reminds me of the good ol' days when I was racing my Camaro Z28 against a Mustang that always shut down early as I was starting to catch up. He had the traction advantage, and I had the power advantage. I was getting so fed up, that I told him to go to the track the next day and settle it - he declined. Maybe I'm too competitive sometimes...

Yeah, a typical race is well into 3rd and probably 4th. Even though our 3rd is enormous on the power band. He probably just made it into 3rd and shut it down. He didn't understand what racing was.

My 1/4 mile ends as fourth is hitting the rev limiter or maybe even a shift into 5th, so 3rd is just when I am getting warmed up

dude, youve got to figure something out about traction in the lower gears. btw, would i have a chance against this dude, or would i get walked?

You'll be close, but I think he'll take you by 1-2 cars in 3rd and 4th. However from the dig, it was just as if I was racing you But remember that I did change my plugs so the car is much quicker now.

Sounds like you wasted gas on this guy. He probably was embarrased that he couldn't "smoke" you. Don't worry lot of these kids that are getting these G35 Coupes with mommy and daddy are wrapping them around trees anyway because they can't handle the power. We know you had em that's all that matters

Could you somehow use an electronic boost controller to limit boost in 1st and 2nd and then boost the full 5.8psi once you had traction in 3rd?

I know how you feel. I owned every 5.0L that I ever 1/4 miled, with the exception to some crazy NOS or supercharger set-up. My Z28 had 5LEATR on it's plates (untill some c-sucker stole them). They always took me off the line but I caught up halfway down the track in third. Light to light sucks unless you have some crazy set up or at least traction. Before my 69 camaro was rendered non streetable I was challenged by some clown in a Boss Mustang, I smoked those mikey t's for half a block. I swear his old lady was picking tire out of her teeth, should of rolled up her window, the dumb bitch.

Nowadays you chirp your tires and the cops are called, had them at my place a few times just doing some test and tuning, not even leaving the driveway. I guess too many late nights setting the rev limiter, pissed off the neighbores.

G35 driver is a tool, he had some HP, and RWD def helps him off the line, but sounds like those were some short stop lights, not a real race. Dont let it get you down.

Cuz it had a Vortech sticker and he said it had the S/C. Either way... it was definately not stock as I could have started in 3rd and beaten a stock G35C
