Ran with a new 6-series.
So I'm on my way to the Nursery, to start picking out our shrubs and perennials for our home.
It's a four-lane road; two lanes going the same direction. As I pull up to the light, I look over to my left, and there a friggin' 645 sitting at the light. It looked friggin' hot.
So I casually turn down my radio as I pull up and a guy, about 40 looks over at me, down through his glasses and gives me a .
He asks me if I can drive my car well. My response is, "we'll find out."
So I look over to the other lights, and it turns yellow. So I put my foot on the clutch, and rev the car to about 2k rpms.
Light goes green and I nail it and out quickly about 1/2 car. I think he was sleeping a bit. But I hear the ROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR of the V-8 and he quickly pulls even.
In a split second I thought about powershifting into 2nd, but chickened out realizing I have nothing to gain by doing so other than a fat transmission/clutch bill. So I move into second and he pulls on me by just a hair, and he's right on me. Couldn't have been more than 1/4 of a car between us.
Into 3rd at about 60 for me and it's basically dead even. The 645 start to pull just a bit from about 65-75, and we shut it down at about 80 or so.
BMW won by about 1/4-1/2 car max. It was fun.
So I get behind him and he signals me over to pull into the Mobil gas station, where we got out and shot the shit. I got to sit in his car, and it's friggin' amazing. Inside and out it's beautiful.
C&D rated the 645 at 13.9/102mph in the 1/4 mile, so... The outcome seems to to jive with mag. stats.
He did comment on my brakes though. Liked the gold Brembo calipers.
The whole time I was listening for the V1 to go off.
BTW... The stretch of road we were on was a 55mph zone, so... We weren't flying through a residential area or anything. :P
Good stuff!

The guy was super nice. Had about 1500 miles on the clock. I felt like a true when I sat in it.

Street tire pressure (35psi)
24K miles on the Z
There were 3 other Zs there running (2 modded) and NONE of them ran 13s or trapped higher than 102mph...it's VERY driver dependant.
BTW - sorry to hijack the thread guys....uhh....645....beautiful....can't wait to drive.....uhhhh

Lower psi will hurt your launches on lower profile street radials...it's a big misconception.

The reason the s2k "feels" faster is because it's power comes on relatively hard around 6 grand...while the 350z has a very smooth, linear power curve. It doesn't suddenly get faster at a certain RPM so it "feels" slower.
Furthermore....find me a stock S2k running quicker than me down the 1/4 mile....and then maybe you'll have an argument.
