Ran an LT1 Camaro last nite!

I don't know wether I should chalk this up as a win or a tie.

We were side by side at 50mph and that's when I punched it. He punched it about a second later (could hear his exhaust). I had let off a little bit to make it fair, and then got back on it. But I maintained my 1 or 2 car lengths that I put on him, and might even have inched away... hard to tell when you're ahead.

He had an exhaust, don't know what else. Was a manual one.

He'd have smoked me hard from a dig though!

Nice kill. I've been needing to shut up one of my friends that has the same car. (firebird, essentially the same). Nice to hear that you were able to pull away.

Later ones, my guess is a 97 model. He had the SS rims that were also on the early LS1's (98-00).

But he could have just swapped the rims.

I saw his tires, they were Dunlops SP Sport 5000's or something like that!

at 50 mph you read his tires!! awesome eyes ya got there

my friend has a 99 z28 6 speed, and im a stock 03 cl-s 6 speed, and i can hang from a roll, sometimes edge him, but not from a dig. he loves american muscle(also has a 69 vette, mint, 531 hp) and cant get over how fast my car is. he always wants to drive it.

LOL, I saw his tires while he was beside me at an earlier intersection!

What mods do you have to hang with him? Stock 6speed LS1's trap 108-ish MPH...

Yeah no way you should hang with any LS1, even an auto one.

Good race with the LT1, I'd like to race a stockish 6 speed CL-S6 with my mustang to see how it would fare.

I ran 2 different 93-97 body Firebirds with LT1 when I was stock and I would take them from a dig and pull a half car and hold it to 80mph believe it or not, at 80 they would pull up on me and end at about 100 with the LT1 about a bumper ahead. That was stock, haven't raced any since then.

P.S. - One was auto, the other manual. (Not sure why the manual didn't do better than the auto, maybe high mileage or something or that sort??)
