Radio Code?

I got my 1998 3.0 CL used, and it didn't come with the radio code. I called the original dealership, but they tossed all records after 16 months or so.

A local dealership said it would be an hours labor to pull out the radio and get the code off of it...(seems kinda shady)...

Anyone have ideas on how to get the radio code, so when the time comes, I can disconnect my battery?

yes its a 5 digit number, I had to input mine in. You just use the number keys 1-6 on the radio.

You call dealer...simple....If they give hassle, they will just ask for VIN, if its not in records, they have to check with the computer the CL originated at.

no luck

So I've called Acura. I've checked all the locations you guys suggest. No code.

I have to break down, and get the radio out, if I can, or pay the $90.

Great cars. Horrbile customer service.

i used to have an accord and when i needed the code i found that it was hand-written on a rectangular sticker on the back of my original manual. i didn't know for sure if that was the code but decided to try anyway and it worked. check your manual, maybe it's there too.

i had my radio code on a card inside the instruction manual booklet that comes with the car. i wish i still had it, the people that broke into my car earlier this year decided to take a pair of oakleys, my wallet and my MANUAL. stupid bastards. it didn't seem so useful back then, but now that i don't have it, kinda sucks.

Well I dont know about the 1st gen - but on the 2nd gen - I had to remove the right side bowling ball trim that goes from the arm rest up to the right side of the radio/temperature control console. - In the side of the radio was a small sticker with a radio ID number _ I did NOT have to remove the entire radio .... I gave that to the dealer and he was able to look up the code.

I had to do this because whomever owned my car first replaced the original stock head unit with another stock unit- so the VIN did not help.

bleh

I have a first Gen. 1998 CL 3.0. I bought the car used, so no dice on the code, or the card with the code on it.

I called Acura Customer support, and they said that they "can't give codes over the phone." I said, "Does that mean you have the code?" The lady said basically, she doesn't have it, only the dealer would.

The original dealer tossed his records after 18 months. SO...I am SOL. I need to remove my radio, or at least get to it, to get the serial code.

Anyone with any experience..can you help?
