Radiator Fluid?

I read in the 2002 cls manual that you should use "Honda Radiator Fluid." My reserve is almost at the minimum line and I need to put some more in. I bought "Prestone Antifreeze/Coolant Dual Action Formula." Will that be ok instead of the Honda Radiator Fluid? Thanks for ur help.

honda recommends non silicate and non 2-EHA (2-ethylhexanoic
acid) antifreeze coolant. 95% of the coolant selling in the US contain 2-eha, including prestone extended life 5/150 (dex-cool approved). the closest thing other than honda oem fluid is the G-05 coolant, which use organic EHA.

I would and do only use the Honda stuff. It's about $8-9 at the dealership for a premixed gallon.

for the reason that Thai stated.

It's closer to $16-$17/gallon.

Pick up a gallon of the premixed version 2 and you don't have to dilute with distilled water. You can get it at any Acura or Honda dealer, or online, or sometimes at PepBoys.

Ok, so it's more than $8-9, but I know I got it less than $15, maybe $12. every dealer is probably different.

WTF is radiator fluid!!! hehehe. I would stick w/ Honda brand. I was actually reading an article in an automotive news mag on different types of coolants and testings on them. Believe it or not...of 15 different brands of coolant, honda and Toyota have the two top recommended brands to use in ANY vehicle.

The fluid that I got from dealer says: good for 6 years or 60K miles. It was $12, its not too much money considering its good for 6yr/60K.

I do belive NAPA sells a rad fluid that can be used... type 1 or type 2

type 2 is the pre-mix...older Hondas use the type 1 i do believe.
The NAPA fluid has low (or no) silicate, and is
phosphate free.

Group buy? Free shipping?

Can you talk him into a group buy with free shipping?

Their coolant is good stuff.

Hopefully, most of the folks know enough to use self serve and stay away from the city water for radiator top-offs. Nothing like scale and crud inside the cooling system to negate the nice "clean" qualities provided by the distilled/coolant pre-mix.

Honda recommends Antifreeze which is phosphate and silicate free. Show the data were it states no 2-eha because I have 4 Honda/Acura products an none of the manuals state that.
