Raced a SuperCharged Maxima

Had a run with a Silver new body Maxima (I live in the Toronto area). We raced 3 times on a roll with him going wide open throttle first each time. One run from 60mph/100km, and the other two started from ~120KM. He pulled half a car on me right away and then after that I pulled even and ahead. At least a 1/2-car in third and in fourth started leaving him when I shut down around 180km. We eventually got off at the Bay/Bloor exit (hit a few corners and the lane split at the light) and I talked to him at the light (some young white kid). Turns out he had a 2000 automatic Maxima with a Supercharger and a bunch of other mods he had no tints. Anyways I'm happy that I can pull on a modded supercharged Maxima in a bone stock 2K3 6spd. I figured they would be a lot faster! The kid looked anxious/pissed when he turned off.

huh....good kill....i would've expected that max to rape you, since you're bone stock....a supercharged w/bolt on's should be putting close to 300 to the wheels.....way to go

wow man, pretty impressive. No offense, but are you sure he was s/c'd? I mean, a Max w/ all the bolt-ons, minus the supercharger, could probably keep up with a 6-spd CL-S, no offense, so I mean, did you hear the whining or something inherent to s/c?

He did keep up that is why I was surprised. Well he said it was an auto 2000 with SC and just by the way the way he took off at lights afterwards I could tell he was an auto. He had no HIDS and smoked tail lights so it was a 2000 or 2001 for sure. I checked over at maxima.org and the 2000/2001 auto maximas are the slowest ones since 1995. The fact he was hanging he had some boost for sure. It was silver with what looked like Mille Miglia Evo rims, no tint and some kid driving. There are a number size pullies available for them that give quite a range of PSI/power. If anyone knows a white kid with a silver 2000/2001 maxima auto with SC and no tint in the Toronto area it is most likely him. Looking at maxima.org track times for an auto 2000 Maxima (i assume it is 5th generation) I haven't read of one doing better than mid 14's. Pretty sad for an SC car if you ask me. 2002/2003 normally aspirated autos and 6spds seem to pull better times.

I doubt 300hp to the wheels for a auto 2000 SC max. Maybe a few SC 5th generation 5spds but not this guy. It would take some serious mods and tuning to get 300hp out of a 2000 Auto maxima. ie. very small pulley, full exhaust, upgraded tranny etc..

Stock 2000 auto seem to dyno around 165-170hp to the wheels. For a 3200lbs+ auto car that isn't so hot.

Definately not 300 to the wheels. Pulley only gives a 2k2 max about 6hp to the wheels so the 2000 must be less. They are much slower stock than a 2k2 or 2k3. Several auto 2k2's are running mid to high 14's stock while 2k/2k1's run mid to high 15's.

well, 2000+ 3.0 auto Max aint that quick at all... they run 0-60 in 8.0 or 15.7 1/4.... with fully mod and SC.... i think they do run mid 14s.... so i am not suprised that a 6spd can take it if driven right.... plus, Stillen SC aint that powerful at all..... THink of it as a Camry auto V6 with SC..... which run 14.8-15.1.....

I think you were referring to y2kevse when he was running 9 psi in his auto 2k. The numbers are not even close to that on the stock pulley. I believe he was running the 3.125 pulley when he dynoed those #'s. A stock pulley on an auto might yeild 230 hp and 220 tq max

It takes serious mods to get an auto 2k max over 250hp to the wheels small pulley, exhaust, tranny etc.. Remember I'm stock. I didn't blow this guy away but there was no question I could pull on him in third and 4th. I really don't think the kid expected me to pull on him and I didn't expect him to hang so well either. The look on the kid's face and his demeanor when we spoke at the light was priceless! I have a feeling if he was a 5spd SC it would have been a different story but too bad it was an auto.

Well there was no way the kid I raced had that kind of power. I think that is a very rare case to get that power out of an SC 2000 auto and it was probably tuned right at the time of dyno.

I'm not impressed with 2000 auto Maximas let alone Supercharged ones.

Hey now the 2k autos are dogs and the slowest of all maximas. I myself have a 2002 auto maxima and can hold my own and beat quite a few cars that didn't expect it. I myself have ran a 13.9 @ 97.5 with just a intake and udp and some assistance with a 2.03 60'. Also have ran a 14.33 @ 97.33 on stock 17's. Just letting you know the 2k2's aren't slouches like the 2k autos. Matt

Those are some good times. What type of tires/rims did you have to pull off a 2.03? I've heard the top end of the 2k2/2k3 auto maximas isn't so great but those are some nice times. I think you could beat an SC 2000 auto max as well. :P

Where do you live? Do you know anyone in the Tornoto area with a silver SC auto Max? It isn't slow but it certainly isn't fast either considering it is Supercharged. I think a GTP with a few basic mods would beat it as well no prob.

No I am from charlotte NC and have met a couple members here fastvtecCL and zootking. I just stumbled upon this thread and decided to post. As far as the top end of the auto yes indeed the 3rd gear is way to tall and has a dead spot from like 80-95 or so were i get pulled on by the 6 spd after that it evens back up for the most part with me about 2 cars behind. For my 2.03 I was on 15's with MT slicks. The car is capable of these 2.0 60's with a perfect launch but its hard to get traction without wheel hopping all over the place. My best 60' is 2.13 on street tires so far. Matt

haven't dynoed yet but I'm predicting 215-220whp and 225-230 tq at the wheels after I install my y pipe and 2.5" b pipe. I should have it dynoed by next month. Another 2k2 auto dynoed at 217whp and 229 tq with the same mods as me but I have a UDP over him. Matt

i have made a few runs with my old ladies car against my buddy who has a stock 2002 cl-s and i have won every time, off the line seems to be the differance i think it's because the maxima is lighter, every time the differance has been between first and second, by the time v-tech kicks in the cls is able to pull back some of the distance lost from the start by 80-90 i'm ussally 1-1.5 cars ahead.

we've done my 2001 cls against the 2002 maxima and i have edge it out by .75 to 1 car lenght everytime. and we switch drivers and the results were the same.
i have gone head to head with my buddies 2003 6sp and have beaten him everytime when i was stock i would get him off the line every time. with the recent modes i just smoke him.
alot of people have commented that for an auto my cls is quick,
i 've wondered if i have gotten """mattg"""" twin car or maybe it was built on the same assembly run.?

on average the cls and the maxima will be a driver's race.
but fro quality the cl's rules.

Supercharged Maxima :)

Hi Folks,

I've got a 2000 Silver Automagic Maxima - and your description of the car sounds mighty close to mine... the only problem is that I don't have the Evo's, only steelies... and as far as I knew, I was the only supercharged silver maxima around the GTA.

268fwhp as dynoed just recently on the 3.33" pulley, and I ran a 14.1 on a stock 3.6" pulley (5lbs)...(ypipe of course too - no y-pipe = massive restrictions that won't get you out of the 15's with the s/c). Something doesn't make sense here; either there's someone else in the GTA w/blower who isn't on the local .org forums, or you raced someone with less work than myself...

When did you race this guy? Did you talk to him? I work in the downtown core.. though I live in etobicoke; I haven't raced anyone recently because my tranny is toast (I wonder why hehe).

Take care,
Jer

*FYI : I do have some CSA's that look like evo's.. but it still doesn't stick?

Jer ... there is one other SC'ed 2000 silver .. but it's a 5 speed and has every single bolt on available.

It was the car owned by the guy that owned that green 300Z @ Alta.

But .. I think it's simply a show car or for his own pleasure .. it's never been in a show .. I've never seen it outside of Alta ... this guy just had a lot of money that he liked to invest in Nissan modified cars.

Wait till Nismo gets here!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe that 6-speed guy was full of shit....lots of "stories" on the internet...espeically on this forum seem to be.

As for Goldcltype-s calling the maxima an old ladies car....wow...you sure are mature.

EDIT: I read a few of 6spdream's post's, and I think I figured out who he is...or was..hehe.

There was this guy on maxima.org a while back named PhatGuy from Toronto with a 2k1 5-speed max, he always liked to start shit and called nitrous "rice juice". He also really loved to make fun of people who couldn't run 13s because of traction problems. Anyhoo, he got banned from maxima.org...and now he's banned from here. Something tells me that this dude has nothing better to do than flame people on the internet ALL THE TIME.

Thanks for the compliment!

The LS is a VERY nice car...but in my book, maybe a little TOO nice. While a luxurious car should be just that, I don't like them when they get too soft. In the LS I felt like I was disconnected from the world, in the GS...not so much. Plus, I'm not "old enough" to be driving around in an LS just yet.

Hey, is that IS430 ever going to come out over here? With air induction it would be a beast...
