Raced my twin...
Raced my twin...
Came up to a light with a cls, silver, no spoiler (mine has a spoiler). My wife starts bitching, that's like the 3rd twin of the day that she's seen. 2nd cls, the other may have just been a CL, but nevertheless all silver.
Anyway she's glaring at the car, so i guess the guy gets the bug, he takes off hard, wasn't really ready, he jumped the light. I got on it, ran pretty hard, we ran to about 70, in a 40 zone. He was just ahead.
Next light he's actually revving at me. Go again, this time I pace him he pushes to about 75 this time, pretty much side by side. Next light is across the intersection to an on ramp.
It's pretty long. I'm in the right lane, the one that ends. My wife says quit playing with him. Light goes green, he was already off. A little feathering, then to the floor this time, gets a little loose at the top of 1st, hits 2nd a little bit slip to the right, already about a car length ahead (nose/bumper), run through 2nd to about 80 about 3 lengths (solid 2 between us) to pull in, then start going away run to about 110 or so.
Drop off the throttle, sure as shit, here he comes, still...ricer fly by. Then i guess he realizes i was no longer racing. He falls back about 85 right now, must have dropped it into 3rd and he's doing the little bob. Goes once, falls back; second time my wife egging me on, we go. That's the worst area for my car, since he jumped ahead i started pulling from their nosing ahead by probably 95, (right about there is where it starts to pull). From there it walked hard.
Now why can't i entice anyone to race when i'm driving my cls, guess the SS just begs to challenge.

ya 75 to 85 is a little bit off
it shifts out of 2nd around 82 or so, and has an ever so slight pause before it really starts pulling hard in 3rd to just about 130, that's a pretty long gear considering that the cls is about 75-110 in 3rd. This is an auto with the 'performance 3.23' rear end. The Nitto DRs let you get off the line hard, and the LS1 just pulls much better up top. This one is high 12s at 108-9s, and the last one, a 97ss, LT1 (hence my name), with a converter and a much quicker 60' also ran high 12s but at about 104-5. Without the converter and DRs, it was a low-mid 13 sec car, amazing what a launch can do...after doing that you know why guys buy vr4s and wrx's.
How often does the GS get challenged, probably no more than my CLS. I'm not into enticing people and the damn car just doesn't say race me; and i'm into the stock/near stock look and don't plan on tint, lowering, wheels, graphics etc. Every now and then you find someone to play with, but it's a hell of a lot easier with a low slung, hood scooped, snarling, wide tired SS to be singled out.
