R1 Concepts Rotor and Pad Combo F/R
My rotors are warped and im in the market for a new rotor/pad combo. Anyone have the R1 setup? is it worth the 180 bucks? and how long has it lasted so far? I've read that the rotors are good quality but what about the pads that go along with the package?

Gonna cost to catch up
I bought mine last week and installed friday. They work and look great, no complaints yet. I would just buy the rotors from them only and then buy a different brake pad. A good brake pad would be the EBC green stuff, red stuff, hawks pads, axxis pads or whatever.

DO NOT USE THE PADS THEY GIVE YOU unless you like your brakes to sound like a 80 year old train coming to a screeching holt. Use EBC RedStuff Pads they are the best around but they are pricey $130 for all four corners

^ You are absolutely right if you are more of an easy driver who only messes around once in a while then GreenStuff pads are for you but for me RedStuff was the way to go because i am a very agressive driver and i had too many close calls with my stock setup

I have the R1's with Axxis ULT ceramic pads. The rotors are great, the pads are so-so. Grip is excellent but they're squeeky and lots of dust.

I was thinking about getting the axxis but too many we're complaining about the crazy amount of dust they produce. So I just went with the redstuff.

Just got everything installed today, first impression, no awkward noises, sqeaks or vibrations. Haven't judged performance yet since im still letting them break in. Will report back in a couple days.

i just bought ebay rotors(raceconcepts) and satisfied pro ceramic pads. i started a thread over on the tl side about ebay rotors. rest assured, not a single complaint. i even researched it on like 10 other forums. everyone has been pleasantly surprised.
you get what you pay for..... aka bang for your buck. i think you should have gone with ebc green unless your an aggressive driver.
if anyone is looking for a great deal on the satisfied pro ceramic pads, i got the front and rears shipped for 75 from partsamerica.com.

I installed them on monday and i am very pleased with the performance especially at higher speeds. The one thing that i dont like is that they squeek when i brake. It is getting a little better but still very annoying. i hope i didnt break them in too hard

u CAN do it yourself. the only extra tool you may need are an impact driver ~$20 and a c clamp or caliper expander. its not to hard, there is a retaining screw from the factory that is not necessary but hard to get off hence the impact driver.

flop and switch. just remember to open the brake fluid cover when you expand the caliper to let the pressure escape, then you can recap after your done with each one.
remember to clean the chemicals off the new brake parts or you might seriously crash. other then that, should be straight forward. remember to use the proper methods of breaking in brakes. great combo tho

not needed imo
prepare for over 2k for parts plus rims big enough to clear the brakes.
if you are looking for serious brakes on a higher budget:
racingbrake rotors + hawk hps pads + stainless lines + dot3/4 fluids. that should be more then enough.
in the end its always your call. i dont know how you drive. that combo above is the most i would do even if i had more money to burn. hope that helps

if you get the r-1 package ask for the premium rotors it is worth the extra couple of bucks, they even have brembos..ask for TEK or cynthia they will hook it up. their # is (714)777-2323. tek is a cool guy, I have known him since he started making rotors out of his dads aircraft machine shop. oh yeah the axxis metal masters have superior stopping power to the ceramics.

^^^ i have the same combo as you do and i've had mine in for about a week now and its been sqeaking the ever since i've put them in. I think the gap going down the middle of the pad rubs against the slots and thats wut makes the noise. At least thats wut i think

luvs redheads!
you probably didnt break them in properly.
are they glazed??
Here is a quick trick done to OEM blanks...take a flat blade screwdriver and etch the rotors....in the design slots would go in on both faces of rotors and then go out and rebreak them in and see if that helps.
let us know.
I have the redstuffs already but was going with different rotors.

I broke them in very lightly, not one hard stop for almost a week... I can't complain about the performance though. The pads are ceramic so I knew there was going to be some noise.

I had the metal masters and r1 rotors, no squeeling at all! fantastic braking just a lot of dust but you cant have it all I guess. I got a full new set-up of R1s for my new to me 6speed cl and I dont have any noise just dust again! I hate cleaning my wheels every 40 miles but it stops crazy fast
