A quick story and a couple of questions
Thank god for VSA! I was on B-Line highway on my way to moroso to watch my friend drag his 2003 auto corvette, and it was downpouring. So I'm on my way back to my house and Im on beeline...Well the left lanes pavement was I guess lower where cars go over it, and so it flooded. I couldnt get into the right lane and as my tires were going over the flooded water at 50mph my VSA light came on and stayed on ass I was struggling to hold my car on the road. It was scary.
I wonder how often VSA comes on for you guys a day, I usually push my car hard enough for the light to come on about 8 times a day, which leads me to my next question. I have 8800 miles on my 03 Cl-S, and with my stock tires I have about 5,000 miles left in the front. I guess that means I need to rotate them now, but I am surprised the OEM tires tread wore so quickly. Is it because of my often accelerations and hard cornering? How long should they last?

yup vsa saved my ass once when I was exiting out of a high way ramp and got some sand w/ my rear tires. The car started fish tailing and VSA fixed it for me. I just held on to the steering whee.

Ummmm...ya. You keep accelerating like a jack rabbit and corner hard, of course your tires aren't gonna have thread. Our oem's aren't the greatest tires either and expensive. Are you prematurely wearing out your tires so you can get better high perf ones? Sounds to me like you got a heavy foot. I got 33k on my oem's and still have about 5k more to go before I have to buy new tires. And what the hell are you doing that your VSA comes on 8 times a day?
Well, I would like better performance tires, but I also dont have much cash so Im not prematurely trying to wear them. Im not like an insane driver or anything, so I was surprised Im only gonna get another 5k or so on my fronts....but if I rotate them now, I should be good for another 15k im guessing? O and for the VSA light its usually taking sharp right hand turns flooring it around the corner, or just going about 35-40 around the turn.
what did u run at the track??

You must be a moron...gee why are my tires bald when my VSA comes on 8 time a day? VSA is for EMERGENCY road handling and recovery, if it comes on that often for you, you are going to need tires a lot more often than everybody else. Oh, and if you don't have much money I suggest you save gas and rubber by slowing the hell down during everyday driving!

If that VSA light comes on 8 times a day, you aren't going to have to worry about your tires as much as your drivetrain

You shouldnt even have VSA turned on unless its raining/snowing or other slick conditions.

The VSA system almost KILLED ME one time in my 2001 CL-S.
I was attempting to pull out onto a busy road from a stop.
There was PLENTY of room for me to get up to speed in front of a big 18-Wheeler cruising along at about 50MPH.
There were some loose stones on the road and the wheels spun for a second when I hit the gas.
The FAWKIN VSA system killed the throttle to stop the spinning as I sat there like a big red target for the truck.
I had to feather the throttle a bit to get the car to hook up and get the hell out of the way.
It was a really close call and one of the reasons I traded that car.

Can't say i would really blame VSA on killing you. if you didn't have it i would guess you would have sat there spinning. And it does have an off switch so not sure why that would be a reason to trade it. Whatever.
Also why would you ever take VSA off? (response to sarlacc) why even chance needing it one time and having it off? odd

Why else did Honda give you the option to turn it on or off? Because you dont need VSA unless youre driving slick conditions. When driving your car under great weather conditions try taking a hard corner with your VSA and the same corner without. It will be much harder to take with the VSA. You dont always need to have it, wasnt really designed to be on all the time, but you can if you want.
Go find an M5 or five series site. see how many of those guys drive with DSC on all the time. Its made to be turned on when needed.

The wheels spun for a split second and then the power was cut off just as my front end coasted onto the road.
I instinctively FLOORED IT, but nothing happened because VSA had cut the power way down.
I had to completely release the throttle and then slowly apply the gas.
