Is it legal to place a NYS license plate on the dash?

 

no u will get pulled over, trust me i had it for a week before i got my bracket from acura

 

you will get pulled over and get a summons

 

i dont havea front plate anymore...i live on long island....ive had cops ask me bout it but i said i was waiting for a new bracket to come in and they let me go

 

It's very dangerous to put the front plate on your dashboard. In a crash it could come flying back at you or your passenger and litterally cut your/their head off.

 

well my front bracket "broke" if the cops ask, and im in nassau county what part of LI you live in?

 

Don't know if this will help but I live in Cali, and I took my front license plate off about 2 months ago when I installed my custom grill. I've had plenty of cops look at my front and then look at my grill but they didn't pull me over . I think that they have better things to do. But if they're bored then watch out.

 

i live in suffolk...ill prob get a ticket for it one day cause when cops are bored they get ya for stupid shit...but so for ive been lucky

 

you are either lucky, or almost stock. most of my friends have moderately-highly modified cars, and they have all gotten at least 3 front plate tickets so far. The saleen kitted mustang has seen 4 tickets for it, from just one cop! i am the only one who has never gotten a front plate ticket, and its because my car looks stock. but it looks like they are toughening up on the front plate law because they have warned me twice for it, where as before they wouldnt mention it no matter what i was pulled over for.
