99.9995% of the time, turning the VSA off will only help with your 0..60 and 1/4 mile times.

i do not agree. i recently have been playing with my launches and timing with a g-tech. i find that with less wheelspin, just a chirp, i have improved my times. i was using ss and turning off the vsa and was getting too much wheelspin. best time 0-60 was 7.20. with vsa on and leaving trans in d-5, 2000 rpm launch,i got it down to a 6.76 then a 6.33.
go figure
those of you who do not believe in the g-tech, please don't flame me as i can't take the stress and rejection

Try with some sticky tires or if you have a sand-paper like surface with the stock tires.
(Look for pavement that looks really grey with some "tooth" to it.)

The VSA applies the brakes and retards the engine timing -- this kills the power! However, if things get too slippery, it could help (anything is possible). OTOH -- if you get some traction (enough traction), the VSA will just kill the power to the engine. Most of the experience on the board at the 1/4 mile, returns the best runs with VSA OFF. (Then again, I didn't know of any of them trying with water or ice on the track.)

However, the Toyo's are so sticky, that I barely get a light up with the VSA anyway, however, when I've run my GTECH with full stomps, I only get a brief peep (a soft rub sound) from the Toyos, and I'm hooked up. My runs are always slower with the VSA ON!

Try somewhere with better traction for your runs. (Although, I must admit... It has been almost a year without those squealy pig stock tires.)

BTW -- my best GTECH times are with the VSA OFF. Best is around 5.7/5.8 sec to 60 (headers, CAI, light wheels, and 1/2 tank).

Reason I was asking is because I raced a 2000 328ci which I thought I was going to give him a run for his money. This is stock for stock, his 328 is a stick. My car has 1200 miles on it,btw. 1st race, we both unknowingly left our traction control on. He jumped slightly ahead of me...I was looking at his rear wheel...but then I managed to stay with him the whole way. 2nd race, my car apparently did a little better and we were neck to neck. Since I never raced the car before, I was just wondering if the computer was still "learning" the revs. Despite the fact that I didn't turn off the VSA, he didn't have his off either. I do have to say that the stock Michelins suck! Even in everyday driving I get a squeal whenever I'm pulling out of somewhere.

Yup, stock Michelin's suck ass.

Toyo's + VSA off = a victory over the stick 328
