Question for those with headers AND intake
Question for those with headers AND intake
Now that I have the intake on it seems to have pushed my car over the edge. I am getting ridiculous amounts of torque steer compared to when the car was stock. When stock, I very rarely felt a slight tug on the wheel. Now, just about any time I make a turn and floor it I'm fightin' the wheel. I was behind some idiot going 25 in a 40 a few minutes ago so I nailed it and switched lanes. She kicked down into first and nearly sent me into a curb! I'm guessing that the fact that my tires are getting old (20k) is increasing the amount of torque steer I get?

I haven't noticed the torque steer, but the seat-of-the-pants meter says it pulls quicker. But a lot of that could be the increase in my pulse rate when the VTEC RPMs hit under WOT. Suuuuweeeeeeet!

well there mark, i guess i have always felt torque steer. When i first borrowed my moms 3.0 Cl(first front wheel drive car ever drivien) i too almost went into a curb. Its kinda scary, so just hold on to the wheel and hit the gas!!!!!!

Its greater, with the headers and intake, but the tires really help to keep it under control. I'm a "big" guy, but I did notice it with the stock rubber. When I went to the Toyos, I went, "ok, there is some kickback, but its sure is better than the Maxima..."
Just got back from the 3rd test with sways, headers, and CAI -- I had no problem with the steering (but I'm not driving with my little finger and one hand; I've got both hands firmly planted on the wheel.)
So, are you running stock tires and have you had an alignment.

Mark, I do encounter torque steer due to the mods but it's manageable and not as bad as you're experiencing.
