Question on rpm's

As I am sure you all (with auto's) are aware that when in SS mode the shifting isn't that persice. Yesterday I was driving in SS mode Was in 3rd downshifted to 2nd, trying to pass someone, give the car some gas, I let the rpm's build to redline, and befor I can shift I 'am in the redzone (maybe 2 seconds) and my car starts to shake, and with the quickness I shifted back into 3rd. Everything seems to be fine. My question is how long do you have to be in the redzone before bad sh*t starts to happen. Thanks

no bad shit will happen, the shaking you were feeling was the rev limiter.. it cuts gas flow in and out so that you dont blow your engine you gotta shift a millisecond before you actually need to shift

So your saying thaat I can wind every gear out and the worst that will happen is that the car will just shake? no mechanical problems will arise.

I wouldnt recomend hitting the rev limiter all the time. It is a safety feature implemented to save your engine from running to high an rpm. I would recommend that you practive a little more with SS as to figure out the length of time it takes to upsift/downshift after you move the lever.
