Question on Rim Weights.

Does anyone know how heavy are the wheels for the CLP. I know the CLS rims are about 24lbs each but im unsure of the weights on the CLP. I know alot of CL members here have changed their wheels and have lessoned the weight of their wheels and some have even moved up a rim size and still lowered the weight. Im thinking of moving from 16's to either 17's or 18's but im not sure what rims will allow me to either keep the same weight or lesson it. Im guessing moving up 2 rim sizes will definitely make my wheels heavier, thus make my car slower. Has anyone noticed a large increase in speed after changing their rims/tires. Thanks everyone. ALso does anyone have any suggestions as far as which wheels look nice on our cars. Im the type who cant really like a rim unless i see it on the car so just wondering on everyone's opinions. Thanks everyone.

He sure knows, but I think the SE-37A in 18" are around 15 lbs (which is very light for 18" wheels). They are also forged.

RE: the speed issue -- check my sig. I changed from the stock rims (weight is 24-25lbs). The SSRs are 13-14.2 lbs each (depending on who you believe). The numbers posted below are based on the the heigher figures 25 - 14 lbs = 11 lbs wheel lighter and the Toyos are approx. 1.5 lbs lighter each. So, total weight saving is about 48lbs for all four wheels.

The car is MUCH faster with the wheels. I didn't do a GTECH (sorry). But the car is much faster, and the change was night and day. I got the headers and CAI, and the wheels made more of a difference (over the whole speed range).

It feels like I tossed a couple of people out of the car!

Wow thanks EricL for the info. Ill be sure to get myself some new rims and wheels in teh future. I am quite curious to see how much of a difference it does.
KavexTrax, are you sure hte CLP rims are really THAT Much. It would only make sense that they were lighter than the Type S sinc ehtey are one rim size less wouldnt it? However of couse i hope it is that heavy cuz that means i can go a hell of alot faster if id o chang ethe rims hihih

Would anyone happen to know any sites online that have many brandname rims and list the full specs on teh rims such as the weight and not just the rim size. SEems liek it would be such a useful site. I know the newest Turbo magazine lists quite a bit of rims but they only list the weight on a specific size and not on the other available sizes. Thanks for the time.

I have not seen one consolidated site with all the wheel weights listed. Only bits a pieces of a few at a time. My plan is to narrow the list of wheels that I'm looking at and gather the info on those in an excel sheet.

Hmm. Your right but its not loading for the following reason. I didn't know that some sites have a "monthly traffic allotment". Gives me douche chills.

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Sorry...Page Temporarily Unavailable

Try again tomorrow. It's a new month.

Anyone know a place that lists wheel maker homepages?
I know MOMO is www.momo.it but what about 5Zigen or any of the other wheel makers?

Sweet! Thanks for the link.

I'm going to have to stop by some local wheel shops and see what they carry. There's really no way to know how good a wheel will look on the car unless someone already has it and has posted pics of it, or one goes to a wheel shop that carries the wheels. :-\

Thanks alot for the links.. Very helpful when im considering buying new rims but im still unsure how heavy my rims are. I think imb ound to lose performance if i do switch rims though. But i guess its just something i have to trade off.
