Question on Konis
Question on Konis
I bought the Koni yellows several months ago because I heard they were fully adjustable. I understood this to mean ride height and rebound/damping were adjustable. After I bought them but before I had them installed, I found that only the rebound/damping was easily adjustable at the shock (with the white clicky-thingy knob :P ) , and I figured that I just misunderstood when I thought they were height adjustable.
Can someone explain how the perch can affect ride height? Does the upper perch give you the lowest ride height, and the lowest perch the highest ride height, or vice-versa? How much difference in ride height does it make either way? Any recommendations? Is there anyway I can easily tell which perch my car was set at?

Comes with perch ring in the upper position which is recommended unless used for racing. Lower perch would lower another 1-2inches! Would not recommend that if you want to have a decent ride and no rubbing problems! Koni Yellows are adjustable for stiffness. I have mine adj. 10clicks rear and 8 clicks on front. Car feels pretty neutral with that setting though on the stiff side! Can hardly wait till I upgrade my tires. Goodluck!

I have both my front and rear Konis set at 1/2 turn. How much is a click?
To adjust Koni Yellows start from softest setting and begin to turn in direction of arrow on the dial. You will feel it click with each turn. My adjustment was 10 for the rear and 8 for the fronts! This is pretty stiff setting but the car is neutral and my wife doesn't mind the ride!
damn, so koni's are a lot better than the tokico...on a scale of 2-11, how bad do i need to get them bitches with my drop...im feelin tha neuspeed springs right now, but im leaning towards the comptechs because they arent that dependant on the shocks...Shyne

My Koni's (from AutoCarParts.com) didn't "click" when I turned the white "clicky-thingy knob." I used the raised markings every 1/8 of a revolution on the edge of the knob to tell me when I turned the shock adjustment to where I wanted the setting (i.e. 3/8 or 1/2 turn).
BTW, increasing the firmness of the Koni's to a full turn made a big difference in the cornering, but I backed off that setting, choosing instead to sacrifice a little handling to regain some ride comfort.

yeah, same here, mine don't make a clicky sound, or have a clicky feeling. it is a smooth rotation, ie: infinite adjustment.

My adjustment of the Koni's is "click-free" as well.
I read a lot of info and FAQs on the Koni web site. It explained the difference between compression (ie., bump) damping and rebound damping. Good reading.

My bad dudes. I was going from memory on the clicks. I think it must be a little fall out from previous clicky things posted here on the board! Actually to be very precise like I was trying to be and am meticulous about such things, there are ribs on the Koni adjustable dial. 10 ribs of the dial from set point on the rears and 8 ribs from set point on the front!
