Question for Jens about the comptec sway bars
Question for Jens about the comptec sway bars
Jens,
Since you are the expert at installing the comptec sways, you will be the one with the answers!!!
I am looking at just adding the sways, keeping everything else stock. I also plan on keeping my CL-S at least 8-10 years.
From looking at the mounting points, does the cl look like it can take the extra pressure from the thicker sways over the long term?
Are there any areas that may be affected by the extra stress?
And my last question is concerning the Acura extended warranty. I don't see anywhere in the warranty information that comptec parts installed by an Acura dealer is still covered. If I had a problem in 6 years with a part (frame?) connected to the sways, would it be a dealer by dealer basis on who would or would not cover it under warranty?
(if the sways are installed by an Acura dealer)
I realize that all your answers are your opinion and in no way related to official Acura representation.
Thanks!!

And I guess my next question is: are the sways made specifically for the CL? Or were they first for the Accord but fit our CL?
If they were made for the Accord, but since our car is bigger/heavier I guess there would be no negative side-effects as far as durability goes?

Unless you are planning on going all out road racing I would not worry over the mounting points of the sway bars. They are actually mounted to the subframes of the car and these things are quite sturdy.I do not know how extended warranty companies would view Comptech parts in all honesty so I will talk to my service manager about it so I can give you an accurate answer.Unfortuanately you are somewhat at the mercy of the dealers when it comes to speedparts and how they affect your warranty.Your best bet is to find a dealer that really is up to speed and is willing to work with you as opposed to some that seem to only want to fight you.Jens

Thanks, let me know what you can find out.
For sizes, the stock cl-s is
front 27.2mm tubular
rear 19mm solid.
the comtecs are:
front ????
rear ???
Does anyone know what the compteks' size in the front is?
Also, anyone know what the TL-S is?
From the specs, I noticed that the TL has a 5" ground clearance, but the CL has a 6 inch!
