Question about wheel repair:

I bent a Centerline RPM wheel. 50 MPH on a big pothole. I went ahead and replaced the damaged rim since the various shops said that was the best course of action. I was wondering if that is true and if I should just straighten up the old one and use it for the spare.

Depends how bad it is. Can get close to the cost of a new wheel if they have to do any re-finishing. I had one done and most of the damage was in the back so they didn't have ot do any paint work. I think it cost around $150.

There are some new great methods of repairing wheels. I saw someone break off the piece where the wheel weight clips to, and they were able to fit it 100% they said. But if you ask me, nothing is going to be like a new wheel.
Unless it was like 40 bucks to fix a wheel, I would just go ahead and replace it.

I investigated using these guys to fix my bent rims, but they no longer try to do any welding. I had a crack in one of my RacingHarts that I wanted them to fix. Apperently they do top notch work on rebendings though. They are loacated in Federal Way, WA and you will have to bring the rims to them w\o tires for the cheapest price.
