Question about new boards

Question about new boards
NIce look to the new board by the way. Though I do have a question. Since there were soooo many post on that old board, and yes, quite a few informative posts and responses within the old forum, will any of that information be accessible via an archive or the such? I think that that was an awesome source of info for newbies (which we all are now I guess!) since they could use a search and find quite a bit of answers on the basic beginner questions. If there is no way to access those topics, than maybe have some new topics started to address problems and solution mentioned in the old posts like that actuator thingy that kicks in around 4K RPM and doesn't on some cars. Otherwise, nice job on the new forum.

Yes, I have all that old data... and Im considering reinstating the posts an in archive.
Apart from that... I will be creating an area on the actual site where this information could be accessed in a more organized manner.
I also talked about this in this post: http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000001.html

Sorta on this topic, I can either change the name of "Newbie" status... (since none of us ol timers want to be newbies)
Or I can do like the IS300 site... and let all you guys pick your own "Status"
Let me know...

I think that the picking your own status would be kinda neat, however, as long as it can't be abused. That's good that you'll try to archive those old post somehow. Didn't realize at first the old forum is still up under Acura-TL, thought it was gone completely. Will it be after awhile? I take it it will.

Just incase anyone else is as slow as I am.... should there be a little warning on the front page telling everyone they need to reregister? I was a little confused when I couldn't post using my old screenname.
Just a suggestion I guess....

Also, why can't we delete our own posts? I noticed I can't do that anymore! If I write something wrong and realize it later, I would like the option to delete it if no-one has responded to it like I could before.

Is the CL forum on www.acura-tl.com still going to exist? I noticed people are still posting in that forum as well and it seems like we might break up the happy family.

I understand the need to have a separate forum. I guess my question is why is the old forum staying open?
Oh and BTW, can you tell that I don't feel like working today after a long holiday vacation? I think I have 1/3 of my total posts on the old forum within a few hours!

Looks that way. Unfortunately, the only way for Adam to modify the look and feel of the site is to separate.

i'd have to agree on posting the old threads in an archive. it will prevent topics from being rehashed, and shares the invaluable 411 we've collected.
the board definately looks cleaner. although IMHO, the red (top frame) clashes with the yellow. .other than that, looking sharp.
oh well. just my .02.

Soopa, another idea on the status issue. If you do want to let people pick their own status, could you have it so that as they post more they have more status options to choose from? For instance, if you have under 10 posts you can only choose from "newbie", "first timer", etc. Then if they're between 10 and 50 they can pick "cool newbie", "junior member", etc. Then between 50 and 100 have a few more choices and so on.
Just a thought.
