Question about HP gains on the auto Vs the 6spd when you mod them????

Ok I have a question about the gains on the 6spd. The #'s are not exact I dont think.

Lets say you take a stock CL-S auto and dyno it....you should get around 200 whp. So you loose 60 hp from the total hp which is the loss due to the auto tranny. If you add the CT headers (acording to them) you get a peek of 32 whp so you should have 232 at the peek whp.

Now if you take a 6spd CL-S and dyno it...you should get more whp due to less % loss because of the manual tranny...so lets say you get 220whp.

Now CT dynoed there headers on an auto CL-S and got 32 whp peek...but that is after the % loss form the auto tranny...the 32 peek whp is not the total hp that the headers add...so should the headers on a manual tranny produce more than the 32 whp peek because it should loose less through the manual tranny?????

Should this also be true for all the mods...like the CAI and Exhaust??

I dont know if this has been asked already.

Thanks

You are a bit optimistic about your numbers...

start with 200-205 WHP for 5AT Headers/Intake 225-235 WHP

so you gained maybe 15% max peak.

Now assume that loss on 6MT is 15% so, Stock is 220 WHP. add 15% imrovement that is 253 WHP!!!

Yep, that would be smoking... one problem for you thou, no CT headers would fit on 6MT for now, still no CAI that fit without some mod. NO SINGLE 6MT has been dynoed..

Enjoy your ride, it is all speculations!

I know the #'s were not exact...thats why I said that they were not...I was just trying to be simple to see if my thinking is correct. CT said that they are producing the headers for the 6spd already just not shipping or something like that. They are also are about to have the Ice Box going out as well.

I know its hard to tell with out a dyno but I was wondering if that is what normaly happend when you mod a auto and a manual.

Ahh never mind I think I mis read your post. So the intake and the headers should add more to the manual than the auto...right?

In theory Yes!

Gains from the 6MT are from less tanny losses so, any gains from a mod on the 6MT should outperform the same mod on 5AT

In theory Yes!

Also the gains might be a mute point because the 6 speed has 1 more gear, & the gearing will be different. The claimed HP gains may be the same, but the 6MT will get that power to the road better, & 0-60, & 1/4 miles times will go down.

Extra gear means extra shift...
I think our gearing on the autos is great for 1/4....it could probably hit 12s with the gearing it has now.

Is this confirmed about the headers & the 6spd ???

I find that hard to believe. Especially the AEM CAI ?

Is there really that significant a difference under the hood
between the 6spd & auto5 ???
Is the exhaust manifold radically different on the 6spd ?

ShawnS what about the CAI ??

AEM CAI does not fit unless you cut it some to fit...and I think anyone has tried yet on the headers but I think its true.

I thought we had the same engine? Why would the headers not fit?

Headers are definitely different.
That has been confirmed by Comptech.
They have ones that fit and it is a different part number.
Production is SLOW though.

This is MY car when the Springs were getting installed.
Does anyone have a photo like this of the 2001/2002 Auto ???
Or someone who has done the install themselves should be able to see what’s different from this.

I guess it has to do with somethin with rear down pipes... so it would not be visible from below, I guess a pic of un-installed stock 6MT headerd would show the diffrence.
