Putting Konis on lower perch is how much drop?

Just to get an idea - pretend stock springs and stock shocks... then install just Konis no the lower perch - how much drop is that?

Like if you have Comptech springs with Koni yellows on the high perch, it's still the normal Comptech drop. But if you put the Konis on the lower perch, how much more does it drop it?

I asked Koni the same thing about how much of a drop each perch would be. They said that the drop would be about the height of the difference in perch.

I wasnt so convinced that the ratio would be 1:1 but I didn't prod any further. I would be certain it would depend on the spring and since I think they are progressive it makes it all harder to determine.

Phi, what is the difference in height b/w the perches?

Also, does switching to the lower perch shorten the throw of the shock, or just mount the whole shock at a new level?

edit - looks like mattg deleted his post

The difference is 9/16 of an inch. I think that the guy that installed mine said it would add 1/2 and inch up to an inch in extra drop. Did Koni tell you that you void their warranty when you do put it on the lower perch??? I have heard that they will and that they won't. I have mine on the upper perch with my Neuspeed Sports.

aztec is about right. 1/2" in front, 9/16" in back. i'm not sure if it shortens the throw on the shock but it does decrease your ammount of suspension travel. about voiding the warranty, the instructions said nothing about this, nor did acp. i think i have before and after shots so you can see exactly how the drop is effected, i can post these when i get home.

edit - i didn't know if you wanted my info, i posted a couple paragraphs in your h&r/ koni thread and you never replied

Thanks for the info!

Hmm, I wonder what Konis on regular (upper) perch with H&R race springs would look like. How come no one has that setup here?
Needs more pics!!!

I had a koni yellows set on the lowest perch when I had an accord. One blew and Koni wouldn't replace it. If you blow when, just adjust the perch before you send it back

OKAY, here is the dealio with Koni Yellow ride height:
Mine have two ride height settings: Upper (factory) and lower.
Here are your options with Koni Yellows:
Use your Koni Yellows on Upper perch and the new lowering springs. This will lower your ride height by whatever the springs say they will (1", 1.5" for example). This is what most people do.
Use your Koni Yellows on Lower perch with the factory springs. This approach really isn't recommended, but you could do it if you didn't want to buy new springs. On my Konis, the ride height can be lowered 7/16" in the front and 1" in the back with the lower perch setting on the Konis.
Hope that helps. I'm not sure those measurements are accurate for "all releases" of Koni Yellows, but on mine they are dead on because I measured the distances between the perch rings on my shocks before they were installed.

If Koni is voiding the warranty if you have the shocks on the lower setting is insane if you ask me.

I thought they advertised 2 way adjustable shocks. If you can only use the higher perch then thats false advertisement if you ask me.

When I spoke to Koni support, they did not mention anything about it voiding the warranty. I would definately bitch they voided my warranty (or put it back to normal when I take it back).
