By the way, I hate shady ass dealerships like that who mark up prices sooooo ridiculously high that the car loses its focus and meaning of being an affordable sports car.

For 45 grand, I'll go get a Vette. Dealerships like that need to burn in hell.

gto is pretty bland looking.

and I don't understand why they would take dual exhaust and put both pipes coming out on one side?

probably be fun to drive though.

I hope he didn't pay that price.
Yikes, look at the gas mileage, it sucks, AND in California!!! LA area has an average >$2.05/gal. prices. The S4 has a V8 at nearly the same number and has 'good' gas mileage.

We had 2 shleps around here buy the new Z roadsters...dealer had 3 to sell. This was in August/September, I think. They both had $7K "Market-Adjustments" on them. Sold them both within 1 weekend...
HOWEVER...the third one is still sitting there...since August...at MSRP, and they can't sell it for shit...

I agree with '03TLP&'03ACCRD. No matter what you do to it/spend on it, it is still a Pontiac. I saw that car in our local auto show a few months back and was not impressed at all with the styling. Very bland on the outside compared to original prototype pics they were showing. Frankly, they had a jazzed up new Grand Am at the car show that looked much nicer and racy than the GTO.

I dunno.. To me it looks like what a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 would look like, if they were to ever re-do the styling.

Looked much better in the comercials then in those pictures.

Kinda just blah................... But it does sounds oh so sweet..

It's quite excellent, really, for a "Pontiac". It wears the Pontiac badge, but everything's Holden. The interior is amazing, and build quality is exceptionally high. For 33 grand MSRP, I think it's worth every penny.

About the dual exhaust, they just didn't have time to engineer and manufacture it. But Pontiac and Lutz said that for the 2005 model year, it'll have exhaust pipes on both sides, although not a true-dual system. It all comes down to pure looks. I kind of like it, but tips on both ends would look nice, too.

Nice IDS in the rear. I would have thought it had a solid axle.

Cool.

Styling wise it looks like an oversized cavalier mixed /w some pontiac grand-am.

I'll wait and see what it looks like with some wheels on it. And anyone who paid over sticker for that thing is a complete dolt. It'll be like the PT cruiser.

they should have kept more of the Monaro's styling, 'cause GTO looks ugly and too much like the Grand Prix/Grand Am. BTW Think they get much rubbing up front on that road race car?

The best thing about that car is the engine, the color keyed guages and the color keyed seats.

Overall I like it but I know in 4 years he'll be wondering why he bought it when he has dropped $5K into it for silly problems. The yellow inside sux. Too much. It loses any class the car had. (flame away)

Well, for a car in this price range and has historical relavence, where the hell are the HID's on this thing wtf ?
I think the car is appealing on the outside, the only interior aspect I like is the Colored gauges to match the exterior color. I do not like the yellow. IMO the colored interior would be better if it was only striped on the seats, and not have the whole seat blue, red, yellow, purple. I respect the power of this baby though, I am calling my salesguy at Pontiac that sold us my sis's GA GT, and hook me up with a test drive of a 6 speed when they get one.
If I ever paid 10k over MSRP, I would then proceed to hang myself.

This car is the shit. It has a 5.7 litre LS1 engine with 350 hp and 365 lb ft of tq. The car is a beast. Most gm v8 guys like the autos, because for 1 they are bullet proof and 2 the autos with a high stall converter will run more consistant than a manual. There are already a "trillion" different parts for this motor. Shit a supercharger, tires, converter and exhaust cuttouts will have this car pushing more than 500 whp and it wouldnt even break a sweat. With 3 grand you can have this car pushing 11's easy. Wait until body kits come out for this thing too. Also, there will be a Judge version with the LS6 400 hp motor. And my local pontiac dealer has a red one for 35000 even.

I don't get how many of you CL owners attack the GTO for being bland.. Okay.. And the CL doesn't have bland styling either? Last time I checked, the CL wasn't a styling standout.

Personally, I think the GTO is a great car for the $$. I sat inside it at the Detroit auto show. Very nice and solid interior. It's not exciting from the outside, but no more bland than most of what Honda releases (except the S2000 and NSX). I think it's a great step by Pontiac getting rid of all that excess badging and bodywork crap they had in the past.

Just an FYI for you guys on the board. Tim did not pay the 10k over. The dealer actually called him to see if he would buy it. They were low on sales this month and needed to make some sales. Tim bought the car on Tuesday and it went to the 1/8 track on Thursday. The Throttle body would only open 3/4 of the way (fixed now) and even with that he was spinning tires 1/2 way down the track (street tires). It's going back again this Thursday to what it can do again. Depending on how it goes I should be posting some videos of this outing. There are many mods planned for the GTO.

I'm the admin for his donleeauto.com and saw the number of hits to the site and just a few of you would like to know.

later,

Poltergeist
