i was on my way to dc when on 70 - 76 (doing about 110 mph) when suddendly i saw or noticed a car with distinguished headlights gaining on me , so i decided to up the anti, by now i am doing 130mph but he still felt like he was gianing so i slowed down to let him pass by.
A few seconds later it was obviuos it became a Cat and mouse game. the car i believe was a VW Gti, very impressive car in the twisties but i was nt abt to let him go not like that go we played around for almost 45 mins doing (110- 140mph) in and out of twisties.
when i was in 3rd or 4th he could never keep up with me but as soon as i got to the corners he gained a little but not enuff becos i was pushing almost the same speed in the corners but it i knew i was pushing the car too its limits (body rollovers) and all.
It was fun after which we slowed down and chatted for a while side by side doing abt 60 mph, he said he was impressed and he thought he could easilyblow past me. later abt 30 mins later we stopped both to refuel where he checked out my car and showed me his engine. it was a 3.2 l v6 , i believe it was a r32 AWD making 240 hp (hatch back 3 dr) i believe he was lighter than my cl type s, but i had more Hp a header and a enlarged custom CAI. he aid he was stock but looking at the car the suspension and exhaust notes sound pretty good for stock.
it was fun ,, justy never knew how much this cars were until u are doing 145mph with bad rear brakes
he said the car was a Vw jazz r32a with a top speed of 130mph, anyway it was a good kill hands down, i would let him go and then chase him down just couldnt keep up with me when i hit high revs

just to put things into perspective, the R32 started at $29k, had 240hp and AWD, weighs around 3400lbs, and had a pretty limited production as well, definitely a worthy opponent...nice kill

Good kill. I was beat by one on an unusually clear section of the NJ Turnpike a year or so ago. (I was doing ~130mph when he eased past me.)

You were on the PA turnpike at those speeds! You are lucky you didn't loose your liscens. I was just out that way last week and saw at least 15 state troopers with radar traps set. What part of the PA turnpike were you racing? Was it where the tunnels are just before Breezewood?

 

I was on that section of I70/I76 this weekend (coming back from Pittsburgh) and it just so happens that the digital speed limit signs had NO reading for at least 20 miles just past the Somerset County area. (My son even has pics of it.)

That said, I was cruising at 100mph in this area in my Maxima....little traffic and VERY few Pennsy troopers.
