Purelotor Pure One PL14459 + Mobil One = 30 MPG!!!

Yesterday, I changed the oil myself, I used Mobil One 5-30 Tri-Synthetic Formual ($18)with Purolator Pure One PL14459 Oil Filter ($6) and drove Today 267 Miles, refiled only 9 Galons!
That is 30 MPG, the first time ever near 30 MPG, last best was 26 MPG.

The trip was 50/50 HW 75-80 and back roads at 40-50

Not bad! I start to like Mobile One Oil, Purolator Pure One seems nice too!

I use mobil one and the puralator filter. I get 21-22 mpg. Your 30 must be from something else.

It could be the atmosphere in NH. I know when I was there I would get between 23-26mpg per week on daily commute and 27-29 on trips to ME. Now here in Cali I see 20-23 weekly and even long trips barely 26.
I think there is more oxygen and less smog in NH.

Sorry It was a typo, I got 5-30 Mobil One Tri-Synthetic Formula.

Coming back over from Plastburg, NY to Burlington, VT, to Nshua, NH via I-89 over the green Mountain (1450 ft), it was 285 miles, I just pumped 10.5 gal, so It was 27.15 MPG.

Are you guyz outta-your-mindz or am I?? My very experienced mechanic buddy (who doesn't work for an Acura dealership) swears by Acura (Honda) OEM oil filters, and I've used them on all of my Acuras since 1986. Why are you using Purolator filters?

I belive it is true that synthetic oil can give you better milage, Synthetics signifi****ly reduce friction compared to regular oil, and synthetic oils are very much energy conserving oils, so it is theoreticly possible to have more MPG. But I think actual difference is not signif****, maybe 1-2 more MPG
Synthetics rule, my car drives so smooth with synthetics... also its hard to prove that there is any difference

I think the filter in question that is being refered to to is the HONDA-label filter that comes on our cars and the one u get when u let a delaership do an oil change.

Acura service, i'm taking mine in on Monday morning for the 15k service, do you recommend synthetic oil ? Is it worth the extra $. I'd appreciate your advice, or anyone elses.

Just made a quick math...
If the synthetic oil will improve the mileage by 2MPG, over 3750 miles you save some 12 galons on @ $1.6 that is $19.2 more than the cost of the oil. Basically, it would make the synthetic oil for FREE.

Fun filter reading
http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml

Fun oil reading http://www.vtr.org/maintain/oil-overview.html

Results show best 5-30 synthetic is AMSoil ($4.40qt)at wholesalers, best filter is STP($2.88) from Autozone.
Anybody find any oil tests with different results, please post.

Common, there is nothing to discuss, Synthetic oil is much better than regular oil. Our cars have no problems with Synthetic oil, even user Manual says so.
As long as oil has the same recomended API Label, and viscosity recomended, you are fine.

My CLS engine is very happy with Mobil 1 5w-30 and Purolator PureOne oil filter. Best mileage - 34 MPG @ 70-75 MPH with AC running.
Reason for using Purolator PureOne oil filter is: it's a very well made oil filter with good filter media and excellent oil flow. Read Fender4 oil filter posting . The best Honda oil filters are made in Japan and not available in USA.
