Pulling away from stoplight, nasty noise

I have a nasty creaking sound .. very noticeable .. coming from the right-front passenger area (maybe the strut or mount on that side?) when taking off from a stop. It also happens if I am 30mph or under and then gun it to pass, etc, though not as pronounced.

Any easy way to tell in the winter besides bringing it to the dealer? I don't feel like getting under it right now .

I assume that if a mount breaks, the worst happens - true? Or can it crack some and create this type of noise??

The car has been doing this for a few years now but it's only REALLY noticeable in the cold weather...

Dude i just had that same problem. They jack the car and found that the rear drvier side caliper seized up. The wheel still rotated but not as free as the other rear tire. All good now.

funny.. i had a similar problem, then it made a loud roar and a nasty clunk... ended up being the lower ball joint and the axel on the passenger's side. :-(
