Pulley Back on Tomorrow
Man, I wish this website always responded this quickly.
Anyway, I'm reinstalling the higher boost pulley tomorrow along with a fuel pressure gauge. Hopefully I will be able to run it just fine now that I know that the FPR was having problems before.
Fingers crossed...

Thanks...
I just wish it was the darn SC pulley as that is a 5 minute chore. But alas, it is the alternator pulley and with the blower shaft in the way it turns out to being a 45 minute chore. With many scrapes to boot.

hmmm
a 45 min job for you is like a 90 min job for us less mechanically inclined plebians :reef: lol
I hope you do not run into any detonation issues, as you unfortunately did in the past...however, do you think you may have to uprade the fuel system due to this upgraded pulley down the line, or will the aftercooler you are working on suffice?

Now that the seal is on the FPR adjustment screw, I don't think I will have a problem at all.
The SC kit came with an upgraded fuel pump in addition to the FPR so the only thing left to upgrade are the injectors. But until we have a stand-alone or piggy-back ECU there is little, other than fuel pressure adjustments, we can do.
The IC ModAddict is working on should be fine with the FPR but it would be nice to also control the injector pusle width.

Steve, sounds good!
the board should be this fast from next week onwards, we've done a lot of changes this past week.

I didn't get a chance to put the pulley back on but the fuel pressure gauge is in. I temporarily mounted it in a gauge pods which is affixed to the defrost vent. I'll snap a picture tomorrow.
I'll have another temporary/permanent location for it once I go pick up the stock A-pillar trim piece from the dealer along with the boost gauge.
Tomorrow will be the day for the pulley.

It will be several months before I can get to the track. They will be inducing Jennifer on Wednesday so the girls should be with us by Thursday. From there I will be limited to baby raising duty and the required attention for several months.
But by the time the air cools a bit everything should be settled down and I can plan a trip up to Commerce, GA (Atlanta Dragway).

It was interesting watching the fuel pressure on the way into the office this morning. You can really tell the difference in the boost by watching the fuel pressure change when the IMRC plates opens.
In 3rd gear at about 3500 revs the FP is about 80 PSI with part throttle (about 1.5 PSI boost). Then at 4000 revs it jumps to about 90 PSI (about 2 - 2.5 PSI boost).
I am getting more and more curious as to what occurs if the IMRC plates are kept close. Maybe for the drive home I'll disconnect the electrical connector on the actuator...

I didn't get the pulley back on yesterday, decided to go off in my in-laws SC430 for the day since it will be quite some time before Jennifer and I can just pick up and go.
I'll do it tonight and report back.

I got it back on and everything seems to be running strong. No problems or knock to report so far. And you can certainly feel the extra torque; breaking the tires loose throughout first from a roll and in nearly 90 degree temps.
Brad, here are the measurements. They were taken the top of the ribs; not on the retaining lip.
Base Pulley: 3.000 Inches
Upgraded Pulley: 3.275 Inches
Now about the fule pressure gauge, below are a couple of pictures showing the sensor installation along with the temporary gauge location.

Thanks, I am sure I will need all the luck I can get. They may be pushing back the inducing which I am not alltogether comfortable with...
Anyway, I did bump up the fuel pressure, base without vacuum is set at 70 PSI, a tad and am running my additional injector just to be sure. So far there are no signs of knock; just more power.

How far back? Days I wouldn't worry much, weeks I might start asking questions. Don't be afraid to ask a different physician. Please let us know when you're going.
I'd like to be able to say you don't need the extra injector or fuel pressure, but without headers yet, I'm not sure how my AFR will end up. Anyways, what psi are you seeing now at the redline? I don't want to cut the larger pulley too big. Here is what i'm thinking, 3" dia. nets 4.5 psi, 3.275" nets 6 psi, so 3.55" should net 7.5 psi. Are those numbers consistant with what you're seeing at the top?
I will be getting part of my silicone elbow order Thursday and should be able to see what size IC will fit. I assume the bigger the better, and I can't possibly go too big, right?

I would like to tell you what boost I am seeing, but I can't right now. Notice in the picture only a FP gauge. I dropped the boost gauge the other night and the needle is stuck at 20 PSI. I have another on order which should be here tomorrow or Thursday. I'll let you know for sure then.
Going from memory that is about right, a touch lower though, but I do have headers.

I'm playing it safe right now with the fuel. I'd rather be sure right now and then back off in increments to a safe level. In fact, I would prefer to run the injector and back off on the pressure a little to help the low end.

I'll let you know when it is in and doing its measuring duty, but yes, it does sure feel nice. Now on to the next step....
