prototype headers/6-speed

Hi,

I am kind of new here. I hope this isn't something which has already been beaten to death.

I have been looking for headers for my 6-speed cls recently, and it seems to me that the Prototype header offers some advantages over the Comptech design header. The dyno for this header on an Accord (http://prototyperacing.com/dyno.htm) shows the Prototype header giving a substantial improvement in both HP and TQ from midrange rpm up to near the top end where the Comptech is a bit better, and I think that is preferable to me.

The problems, of course, are fitment of a header designed for an auto trans, and that the prototype header is not actually in production yet. I contacted Joe McCarthy at Prototype, who seems like a good guy, and he says that he is in negotiations with Opak racing to produce his header, which should be out no later than Dec. 1. Regarding fitment, he has done a "fit check" on the cls 6-spd and says the only problem is with the rear motor mount. Joe says this can be avoided by replacing the cls mount with one from an accord.

So some questions. What do people know about the Prototype header? It looks awesome.

Also, what do you think of using the Accord mount as a replacement for the cls one? Do you think it will really be strong enough? I know that Honda put in heavier duty mounts for the 6-speed, so i am kind of worried about replacing one with one from the accord. on the other hand, I really like the prototype header, from what I have seen (admittedly, not a lot of facts).

Finally, just out of interest, is it possible to do the same thing with the Comptech header for an auto? If you could it might be possible for 6-speed owners to save some money over comptech by getting OBX and a motor mount. Personally, I would probably just spend the extra to get a high quality Comptech set built specifically for a 6-spd, though.

Thanks,
John K
