Problems with ThermoBloc

Is anyone still experiencing coolant and or oil loss since installing the ThermoBloc?

I'm wondering if it could have been one of two things or both.

The first thought is that you could have had some coolant loose during the install, but don't understand why you'd have loss of oil.

The other thought is that there may have been a problem with the installation and something isn't quite right . . . do you see any seepage, leak or otherwise visable signs of ongoing fluid loss? Also, check your exhaust tips and plugs to see if there are any signs of blowby.

I just hate to install this mod and end up taking it off as I don't feel this should be happening.

Starting with post 200 we have our first reference to fluid loss, then in 204, 244, 250, 254, 255, 258 and 259. It seems to be a general reference, but then in 258 it's more direct, but the 259 challenges that and no one has said anything since.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...4&page=8&pp=25

So it seems that we may have been thrown a curve ball here and there's no issue as I'm in agreement with Allmotor on post 259 . . .

Hope this helps clear things up and doesn't add to the confusion.

Now I just need to hear from Jonesi that the group buy is a go, or we go on our own . . . it's already getting in to the 80s here and I can feel the car getting slower . . . as it does each summer.

I put mine in yesterday, and I'll be keeping check on coolant and oil.

But so far, everything's fine, except that the engine cover doesn't fit right anymore. I'm a neat freak, so it bothered me.

I have had mine in for about three weeks and have had no issue with the car using coolant or oil. I pulled the plugs last week to replace with Denso Iridium IK20 and there was no oil on the spark plugs.

There was some hear-say information being passed around about using more oil and/or coolant after the install without any factual information.

It sounds like most of the folks who would install the spacers have already bought them and there probably won't be enough people left for a group buy.
If your interested, you should go ahead an order a set.

I don't think a group-buy will even put a dent in the price. It's only $95 and is worth every cheap penny.

It's certainly not a deal breaker, but we have 7 people so far in our group. Depending on the savings - $5-$9 - that's $35-$63 for us . . . that buys a lot of and ribs for our mod meet we are planning around this . . .

Yeah, it still fits over everything. But the MAP harness sticks out like half an inch to the right because of the TB spacer, so the cover installs over it, instead of the harness fitting into the slot. That, and the whole thing sits a little higher because of the the manifold spacer. But it fits.

I will check for oil and coolant... since I probably have had this mod the longest. However, I noticed some funny sounds... at low RPMs when I slowly rev the car... it makes a little tapping sound... very non-systematic... just random. I don't think its anything with the valvetrain or bottom-end... as it still drives great to redline. Or since I am terribly paranoid as to how my motor sounds I am hearing things!

Ya many of us are very obsessed with every noise - myself included so we will see if I hear anything when I put mine in. Probably wont hear anything because my intake is so loud!

But hopefully it isnt a problem, so keep us informed!

Thanks.

And I hear you about sounds . . . my wife thinks I'm nuts, but motorheads just become one with their cars and can hear and feel things others can't.

I wonder of the spacer doesn't block sound as much so you are hearing the tappits? I certainly hope and dare say that your motor is starting to get really loose with all that power and you really need a slightly thicker oil.
