Problems with suspension after lowering

Ever since I lowered my car, I hear clunking noises coming from the struts everytime i hit a big bump. What could this be? I looked at the rear struts, and the bottom coil are touching each other. Any ideas what this might be?

Thanks,

Spiro

I had the same problem coming from the rear. It was the new bushings for the sway bars. If you got sways the same time as the springs I would bet that is your problem. Have them grease up the bushings really good.

if you didnt put aftermarket shocks in, then you probably should've trimmed the bump stops on the factory bump stop to accomodate for the lowering.

I talked to Comptech, and they recommend that u do not cut the bump stops with their springs.

Could there be a problem with the installation or the location of the isolaters?

I think this happened to someone before and it turned out to be that the springs weren't seated properly or some crap like that. I'd take it back to where you got them installed.

Check the isolaters (plastic looking things that wrap aroung the coil). They might be out of wack and the coils are tapping together when you ride over bumps.

Yo yo...

If you are referring to the rear "clunking" noise when you corner or go over an incline or just going over speed bumps, then I've had the similar problem you are experiencing.

What I found was that the end arm connecting to one of the multi-link arms (the left END OF THE SWAY BAR connecting to one of the link joints) came loose. BELLEVUE ACURA did not do a good job. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this dealer for anything. I've had mediocre service done before at this shop.

They did not torque the freakin' bolt correctly and within a month, the freakin' sway bar came off the link joint. Every time I would pop the trunk hood open and push down on the car, you can hear this 'clunking' sound..which was the left end of the bar coming off the link arm. Very hard to detail without pictures--sorry!

Good luck with your investigation.
