Exclamation Possbility of roof spoiler

So at a local meet over the weekend I was admiring some of the 04-08 TL guys roof spoilers. I asked them about them and they pointed me in the direction of this ebay store. I have contacted the store just now about custom making one for the CL as he does not have one on his site. My question to you all is would anyone be interested? I feel like the price will be around 60 since that's what most of them are, but there isn't a whole lot of details about it. I know a lot of you have been itching for a roof spoiler and the only one posted about around here is going nowhere fast. Also one of the TL guys just contacted me and said they will most likely do it if someone has measurements and paint according to your specs. If I can hunt down a tape measure I will measure tomorrow but could a few others who are interested also measure just to double check? Thanks guys!

I would love a roof spoiler, but Im not sure how that style would fit. IIRC, they are made out of an rubber type of material. The top edge of our rear window isnt perfectly straight like the 3G or 4G TL (like in the pic). The corners are rounded.

I had measurements but I dont know where they are. I really wish HeelToe was able to get their hands on a CL for a few days.

Sarona makes/made a roof spoiler for the CL. But it was expensive and not the best looking. There is another on ebay, but they want $200. I dont think its worth $200.

EDIT - Just looked at the link. Its polyurethane.

EDIT 2 - Project 10K, the company that makes them for the CL on eBay, have it for $179 shipped on their website. It comes primered. Looking at the pics, it looks just like the Sarona. IMO, thats not really a good thing.

I've talked to three TL owners that have this spoiler, they have 0 complaints about it and love it. Paint is spot on to their car color and the fitment is great. What is not to love?

Why? They can make one to your exact specs so you don't have to cut into existing pieces.

Guys I got an email from the company about it. They are interested and I am going to send them some pictures and also get measurements for the window.

I dont doubt that they love it, but if you look at their rear window vs ours, they have sharp angles that allow the spoiler to really play off of it nicely.

If the product that this company were to make looks like it belongs on the CL, Ill definitely be down for one.

This. The TL has a different shaped rear window then our CLs.
Don't you know by now that Morgan knows his shit? lol

Who's Morgan? Never heard of him. hehe I see what he is saying though. I'll see what kind of pricing and paint options they give me and we'll go from there. Maybe I can get them to round it off and make it more appealing.

no company is going to make these. the standard m3 lip (which again all these are, slightly extended), requires no special modification other than length for the 3g TL.

this is what it would look like on our cars, modified to fit the curved glass (you have to round the edge). i don't know how much m3 lip spoilers go for, but mine was $40. a far cry from the $200 civicdrivr said this company sells them for.

That one looks pretty good. Looks like he used the 4G TL spoiler and cut and shaped the ends:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/roof-spoiler-2g-tl-757981/

If you look at the pics he has in that thread, the roof spoiler he had was larger then the M3 lip. Maybe it was the M5 lip? Is the M5 lip any thicker then the M3 lip?

The store I'm looking at will make them specifically for the car so no modifications at all will be necessary. Like I said I already contacted them and they are interested. I will see what they say when they email me back.

Where are they located? The only way to have it truly made for the car is to have a car to mold from.

Uhhhhhhh page says Taiwan, but I honestly never really understood why a car is needed to make the spoiler. If you have the measurements for the desired area, why can't it just be made to that spec?

Due to the curve of the corner - as I mentioned above regarding the TL window.

CL:

TL (4G in pic, but 3G is similar):

Due to that difference, you cant just take the same spoiler they make for the 4G TL and cut it down to size. If you do that, youll have a spoiler that doesnt fit the window properly. If you mount it up at the top of the glass, it will be about 1/2" too short on either side. If you get one thats long enough for the full width of the window, youll have about 1/4" of space between the spoiler and the window trim.

Its those corners that complicate the process, and without a car or at least a spot on template, its not going to fit the window properly.

Lay large paper on the rear window and trace it exactly. They can use that for a perfect template.

It's paper from a roll like how a body shop uses or the type of paper people use to cover floors when painting rooms, both should work.

A taiwanese company gonna make a quality spoiler? I don't see that. You would be better off buying sarona or getting one from another car to fit.

If tracing paper is all that is needed then marcus could have done it two years ago. I would bet fitment would still be an issue.

I gave up on this, but you can keep hope alive.

Then buy the sarona one. No other company is gonna make one for this car that will be better quality.

The problem with that is that it's a $300 spoiler...

I am in the process of having one made by my painter at my custom shop in the next couple of weeks. He just finished making me carbon fiber side skirt flares for my current versus body kit side skirts. He will be eventually mass producing these to sell and I will post pictures once it is installed for people who may be interested.
