Ported Throtttle Body?

I am thinking about porting the throttle body and intake then making some spacers to add volume to the plenums instead of purchasing the p2r plenums.

What size throttle body and who do you peeps use for porting? Or do you purchase a different one?

I've used Extrude Hone on my old vette. I have done my own port work on heads and intake with good results. I have a buddy that owns Four Stroke Design Inc. that used to do some crazy stuff for me like cutting intakes in half then porting certain areas and welding others then welding them back together. Nutz!! The flow bench loved it though.

maxbore?
I think one of the problems is that you can only bore the neck of the intake manifold so much. so you could have an 80mm TB, but then air would hit the smaller neck, then into the ported IM. Someone does have an 80mm TB and it required cutting off the neck of the intake manifold and welding on something bigger to fit the TB.

Welding isn't a problem but does a 3.2 liter 4 stroke really need 80 mm? That sounds a bit large.

Then again my outboards have 96.5mm throttle bodies and they are 3.2liter 2 strokes.

You aren't gonna see much in the way of gains from our engines unless you're using FI with a ported or even increased throttle body. You could go up 5-10mm but that's not gonna do much. Even if you threw a 80mm in there it'd be pretty much worthless. I'd spend your time and money elsewhere first.

Maybe for a stock J32 it would be overkill, but if you start putting mods on it i would consider it. Especially any one that has done a 3.5 conversion.

Im the one with the 80mm TB, and its still not feeding enough air into my engine up top.

Im not sure what gains can be had with the 80mm TB on a 3.2, but I got about 15whp on my 3.6.

it was custom made. the neck of the intake manifold was cut off. Then new material welded on and honed out to support a bigger TB. This had to be done because the stock intake manifold can only be widened a tiny bit before you hit the holes where the TB attaches.

if we are gonna do that ... why not keep the o.e. size neck and add another with two stock size TBs eliminate the "Y"
