Polyurethane Motor Mounts w/ Pictures

Polyurethane Motor Mounts w/ Pictures
I ordered the 3 main motor mounts, front/rear/side. I think it was about $200 or a little less, brand new. I wanted to decrease wheel hop and increase the power sent to the wheels. Here are some pictures.
For reference before:
What I used: I found this at home depot. There is stronger poly, but it isn't in black, and I felt this would suffice. $4.49 a tube. I used 1.5 tubes making a mess.
Side Mount: Pretty happy with how this came out. This one is VERY loose and has a big gaping hole in it.
Rear: not so thrilled on the job i did, i may touch it up. It's very hard to fill it because it's just a big open space with nothing to seal it with, but i think this will do a much better job than stock.
Front: I think this is the most important one, with the side in 2nd. There is a giant opening to fill and then there is a channel underneath. I tried to get a shot of the front opening and channel. Came out pretty well.
Not very hard to do, but i did this with new mounts and they will be installed with my new motor/tranny. So i never lifted my motor myself to get my old ones out, but from what i hear, it's not very hard to do.

the only one i have of before is the first picture, i thought i had more, but i stupidly didn't take anymore. i can take pictures of my old mounts when they come off the car. i'm going to fill them for someone and sell them in the black market.
this poly is REALLY thick, so i just shoved the tube into the hole and filled it until it started to overflow. it fills out perfectly. the only one i had issues with was the rear, mainly bc there is no enclosure. it's relatively easy work, it's just time consuming bc it's so thick, it doesnt come out like regular caulk or silicone.
thanks guys.

when i had even thought of doing this, it was long before i even saw that thread, and typeR had informed me of it too. i'm not trying to 'steal' credit, just showing people what i did. also, judging by the pictures in that link, the front and maybe the side is different than on the CL-S.
ps. it's messy but not as bad as you would think.

I'm going to finish mine up this weekend.
I was able to get a broken front mount from the dealer and I used the Window weld a few weeks ago but I have to remove the rear and side on mine and do them. Good weekend to do it since the car needs to sit on jacks in the driveway.

id like to add...if doing this to the side mount and it is not brand new inspect the lower section for tears and make sure to fill the entire lower section if torn

What TypeR used was 3M Window Weld when it was discussed couple years ago here.
How ironic is that you have used the exactly product 02AV6 used over a year ago and posted DIY: Improve Motor Mounts (sticky under 6th generation) on July 15, 2005 on you know what board and also bunch of times here a while ago.
Common now, no offense but who both of you kidding. But it's ok I'll stop now.

Hey av6ent, isn't the point of the forums to learn from each other? Who gives a shit if someone didn't give them credit. Enjoy the thread for what it is, someone doing cool stuff to their car. end

hey man, this is just an informative post. i'm not trying to say i'm the first to do it or that i pioneered it, like i said, i'm just showing people what i did. and btw, i had used a different polyurethane at first, but it was a beige color, so i opted for this because it was the only poly that home depot had in black, that i thought would suit my needs.
as far as vibrations, there might be MINIMAL vibrations while at idle, but for 90% of the time you won't notice anything. but the good thing about this is that it's flexible enough that i doubt there will be any issues at all.
ps. i give credit to 02av6 and countless others that have been strengthening their motor mounts for over 50 years.
now who wants to see what the CL engine bay looks like empty?

Looks good and they do work great along with torque damper I have. And as of Tuesday night, I'm officially broke 12s running best 12.89@108.7mph in which they played an important role.
As far as credit, it doesn't matter who did first, the whole point of the board discussion is to share the information for everyone benefit. Keep the thread going with no hostilities.
