I'm trying to find out how many of us use synthetic, of even if it's a good idea.

No. it is recommended, that you should only used Honda Transmission fluid. Any fluid that meets honda's specs(such as Mobil and Amsoil) which just recently upgraded their formula, can be used.

I would only use Honda/Acura trans. fluid/oil. Think about warranty. Especially with all the tranny issues.

I think I'll just stick with Honda's tranny fluid.

whoever is using something else than Honda fluid is dumb or is not afraid to take the risk. Honda recommends to use ONLY their fluid, and also if you have 100K warranty on transmission, why expirement with the fluids ?? they can deny you warranty if you use other fluids...

WRONG sir the Warranty can only be denyed if the oil caused the failure,, burden of proof is on the dealer,, by oil analysis and actual failure analysis down to the exact failure mechanism. Putting in synthetic oil that meets or in this case exceeds the minimum specs by Honda WILL NOT VOID WARRANTY and we are protected by Federal Laws.

This is the biggest line of crap that dealers pull a then charge customers $$$$ for repairs that are probably Warranty items. Or scare them into must changing oil every 3k miles at my dealership or warrenty will be void. BSBSBSBSBSBSSBSBSBSB

I was not talking about motor oil, I am myself using Mobil 1 for my motor oil. But the transmission?! For motor oil the manual clearly says that you can use synthetics... however for transmission the wording is VERY different. They say that other transmission fluids can damage transmission. Is it true? I don't know. But I am not going to expirement. Yes, maybe they will still replace your transmission under warranty even if you use other transmission fluid, but do you feel like fighting and taking them to court?

It's the same for Trans fluid,, oil is oil, What fight? Again the burden of proof is on them, once they know you are a educated consumer they stop the BS. Also the oil company will get involved. They have already done the testing science is science,, better specs in trans fluid doesn't VOID warranty.

I am not saying Honda fluid is good, but Honda says (and it could be BS, but we have no proof) that Honda ATF contains some specific chemical that is not present in other fluids and which is necessary for Honda transmission. They might be lieing....

i use redline MTF. works great. shifting is alot smoother than when i had the stock stuff. i only had to do that though because i had my clutch done, and they have to drain it when you have it done.

Yes this is very true ,,,it's called by them Z1,,, Amsoil at first didn't have this covered but now they do , read the recommended applications here
http://www.amsoil.com/products/atf.html

I wanted to use this a couple of years ago but Amsoil didn't approve it until this year.
