Polished intake manifold...

As for before and after dyno, yes and no. I also had added the Mugen T-Stat and Fan switch. Other dynos showed that by dropping the engine temps from 200+ to the 180 F range gave about 5 - 7 lb/ft more torque. So the below really shows those gains and nothing from the polishing.
However, I should note, on the second dyno I was running a different intake which didn't amount to much over stock without the resonator. On the first dyno I was running an AEM intake.

As a side note on my above dyno; notice how the dips and rises don't follow at the same RPM. Both the IMRC opening and VTEC change over has to occur at the same RPM but they are offset. So I wonder if the dyno was a bit off on its mag pick up.
Anyway, I did a quick correction and shifted the blue line to have the transition points match in RPM; plus 200 RPM. I then recalculated the WHP measurement based on the new RPM and it came out to 254.4 WHP.
So maybe there was more benefit than originally thought.

It is actually southern ingenuity, or maybe it is stupidity, I can't remember which...

Count-up the positive vs. negative responses above.
There is always going to be a possibility that it would "help" with a particular configuration (3.5Liter with some other upper end mods [cams, valves, porting, higher rev limit via new ECU]) or S/C combo mentioned above.
The problem with the "truth" is: the "tested" configurations are all different.
Sometimes a little roughness can actually help keep the air velocity up in the intake runners and allow for better cylinder filling.
YMMV
If its done properlyly, it will give you gains. However, that mod has to be accompanied by other mods. Take a situation where head can flow at say.. rate X cfm, but the TB only allows 1.1X cfm. Well, if you port the heads to flow 1.3X cfm, it won't do you any good!
Also... the amount, angle(s), countours etc. of the port make a big difference on how air fills up the combustion chamber and how exhaust leaves it. Sometimes you have to alter intake cam timing to accomodate the difference in flow.
