Not all that great of a deal, IMHO. You're only 20,000 miles until the warranty is out, NO navi.... And the '04 TLs are just around the corner. For 24K??? You can get a brand new one for only couple thousand more...

The deals on the current TLs will only get better in a few months.

I'd pass...

Thanks, maybe I will try to talk him down. Actually I made a mistake, the dealer is covering the difference in my trade, so the real price of the car is 21,995. Thanks

Please advise me further, I live near upstate NY and I have been searching for a while now and have not seen a 02 TL type S for anywhere near 19,000. At the Acura Dealer the best deal I could get on a 2000 TL non s was 20,000. Damn, this state sucks. I feel if I ask the dealer for 18000 he will laugh me off the lot.

What to do, any sites I can visit to figure Acura prices.

No, Heart Acura in Wappinger Falls, NY. But the TL-S is at a Nissan Dealer. I don't know what to do, the car is awesome.

Don't get too excited and lose your cool. It's a buyer's market right now especially on CLs and TLs. You might be able to get 2.9% financing on a brand new one and have the same payments as you would have buying the used one. Check around and get a couple of dealers fighting over selling you a TL.....They will. I got my CL for $4000 less than sticker brand new. Acura dealers have a lot of incentive to get the last of these cars off the lot before the new TL shows up.

I'm not sure if it is 5/50 Bumper to Bumper and 7/70000 powertrain, remember this is not an Acura Dealer. Anyone know about warranty for 2k2??

Btw, Thanks alot guys, you are being very helpful.

I'd avoid a TLS like the plague just for the fact of the tranny failures. There's other cars in that price range that are also nice. Though Acura gives a 100K mile warranty on the tranny it's still not worth the risk in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong though, they're beautiful cars but the only way you could get me into one would be for it to have had a 6 speed.

If you're looking for a nice car around the 20 something range have you thought of a 4 door E36 M3 perhaps? Or maybe a used GS400? IS300? All are good sporty sedans. If you gave me 24K to get a used sedan I'd be all over a '98 M3 or try to find a 'bulletproof' turbo supra with higher mileage.

Sorry about that. It's just that I don't know that I would buy another CL (or TL for that matter), especially if it didn't have the green light from Acura, because of the transmissions. Acura has done a very poor job of dealing with this, as a 100k warranty is not going to do anything while your getting rear ended by a car going 70mph on an expressway. Just a little nervewracking is all.

Guys,

Went to the Dealer today and I took a pass on the TL-S. I would honestly say, I made the right choice. The mileage was to high and warranty would have expired for my within a year.

I would like to say thanks cause if I did not post this, I would have bought that car and regretted it. Thanks alot.

The price sucks, you can get brand new one for $3-4K more. And the new one will have an updated transmission.
Check out www.edmunds.com, to see how much dealers are asking and how much people are paying.
You can get it from private seller a lot cheaper, but even for a dealer price is too high

Edmunds tells me I can get 20k for mine in trade...I can tell you right now, that no dealer will give me that. I have tried.

Yeah, I checked out Edmunds and they seem a little off. The dealer listed a 2002 TL-S w/o Navi and 37,000 miles for 23,995. I am trading a 1998 Honda Accord V6 EX with 47,000 miles. Dealer would give me 10,500 for my car which meant I would break even. He said normally I would get 8,000 for my car, but he would pay it off instead of reducing the TL-S.

Either way I was getting a bad deal. Thanks guys
