A-Pillar Gauge Mount
Although I did not plan on adding this to my CL it seems that it may now be appropriate.
So who wants a true and complete A-Pilar gauge mount?? It would be similar to what is available for the NSX:
This would be a two gauge pod matching the factory A-Pillar trim piece. I need at least twenty people and I will give my stock piece for the mold. Price would be about $45.
Just let me know and I will make the arrangements.

What do the gauges measure, and since there's two different color interiors (parchment and ebony) can you get both colors?
My assumption would be for boost gauges, but not a lot of people here have the SC yet ... What else would you be measuring?

Boost (for blown vehicles), Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Transmission Oil Temperature, Voltage, Fuel Pressure, Exhaust Gas Temperature, etc. There are a miriad of parameters to measure, it just depends on the individuals needs.
Yes, they would be available in both parchment and ebony interior color matches.

Anyone know if the trim piece in the TL is the same?? That could expand the purchasing base. If no one knows I'll go to the dealer and check it out.

I should have the TL confirmed in a day or two. Or if anyone of you CL owners knows a TL owners (and vice versa) please feel free to check this out and save me a trip to the dealer.
One other thing I could use; if there is anyone in the Raleigh/Durham area (or close enough) let me know as it would be better to have a vehicle for test fitment issues nearby.

One other thing, can someone with Parchment interior drop me a note. Lyle will need a small snip of that trim piece to do the color matching. Just a small piece, maybe 1 inch x 1/2 inch). You can normally pull the piece and get this where it is hidden behind the dash.

I just got back from the Acura dealer and checked out the differences between the CL and TL. They are identical in shape and size, etc. However, the TL I looked at had a cloth covering on the A-Pillar trim piece. Is this the case for all TL's??
If so, would the TL owners interested in this accept a plastic A-Pillar mount??

I'm at least gonna need one for fuel pressure. Don't know what else I'd care to monitor with an N20 setup. I'm sure I could think of somethin'.

I prefer mechanical if they can be installed. They give a full sweep at a minimal cost. Many electrical gauges that are about the same cost as the mechanical units work fine but have only about 145 degrees of rotation (versus about 280 for mechanical) decreasing the resolution. There are full sweep electrical gauges that work and show just as well as mechanical but cost three to four times as much.
But there are instances where a mechanical gauge cannot be used, such as measuring fuel or oil pressure on a gauge mounted in the car. You wouldn't want a line slipping off spraying you with hot oil or fuel (especially if you are a smoker. :o ). In these cases you either suck it up and have less dial travel or spend the money and get a full sweep electrical gauge.

Okay I get it now.. but is Electrical full sweep just as good if not better than Mechanical?
So who is doing what then?... any ideas?...
I know boost gauge for Scalbert but what other gauge are you thinking about installing? already got a dumbie temp gauge.. can't run oil or fuel up that A-Pillar... so what then?

The full sweep electrical gauges are very nice, and many times they are easier to install. But they run about $200 versus $50 for a similar mechanical gauge.
I'm adding a full sweep electrical fuel pressure gauge in addition to the mechanical boost gauge.
If I were an automatic owner I would consider a transmission oil temperature gauge among others.

Yes, you will need that high of a fuel pressure reading. At idle it will be in the 35 - 40 PSI range. At WOT with the blower it will be 90 - 100 PSI. In fact, with more boost we will not be able to read the fuel pressure as it would be pegged.
That is a decent boost gauge and will work fine. The range may be a bit high decreasing resolution but will work nonetheless.
Plan on the boost gauge running about $95 and the fuel pressure gauge about $250. You could save about $50 on each by going with the Ultra-Lite series. Same look except for the night time lighting.

I just picked up the Autometer #5763 Phantom Fuel Press, 0-100 psi for $182.99 from Lane Automotive. I chose #5776 Electric Boost, 30"-15psi boost gauge. Look at page 60 http://www.autometer.com/hp/ and check out #4376. It is electronic, ($169), but it will give you the smaller range, full sweep, for better resolution, 30"-15psi.

Here is the current status. It will take ten to twelve weeks to get the mold made and the part ready. I didn't want to go that long without an A-Pillar trim piece so I ordered one to send off.
Once they recieve it they will determine a cost and create an advance order form on their website. Once they have twenty orders they will begin production. From there on out it will be a stock item.
