so how hard is it to apply the tint to the tail light? I'm assuming you take the tail light apart and stick the tint to the inside of the clear part. That looks sweet on you car, but I think the tinting would look better on a silver CL if it was lighter. What % did you use, and can we get it lighter?

darrinb,

Still putting together pricing....it will depend on if you want just the bottom end, or if you want pistons, balanced, shot peened rods, etc. I will have pricing in the next week.

danny25,

No need to take the lights apart. It is not window tint--it is vinyl, like companies make stickers for your car. It goes on the outside of the lens--there are 2 different shades, a dark one (thats what I have) and a lighter one.

oh, I thought it went inside... well that sounds easy!! now i just need the 03 tails.

Actually, I want some of that anyway. I wanna see what it would look like putting over the all red tails. If it doesn't look good, I'll just save it for when I get the 03s.

Sweet. I'd like the slightly lighter tint to start off with, but I'll probably buy the darker stuff at the same time just in case. The lighter stuff will do for my road lamps.

This is just the thing I was waiting for.

Keep us posted.

Danny25 and JZ,

The name of the company with the tinted vinyl is Oracal and here is the website:

http://www.oracal.com/index.jsp

Here are some of the colors:

DeLucCL-S,

Thank you!

Chaptorial,

No Icebox yet--still have to take care of the last few customers, then I will.

CLS2001_97124,

Thanks!

Dean

that is a great idea, especially for those with the road lamps and 03 headlights. I've always thought the roadlamps look too bright with the tinted head lights.

Also, what method did you use to cut the vinyl to fit so perfectly?

danny25,

We used a heat gun on the compound corners. And we used a razor knife to cut it in place.

Looks great Dean! Boy, that tint would look pretty nice on anthracite.

I'm still trying to decide when and what to get for my CT drop...whether to get the shocks or not. Did you put in the Konis or did you just put springs on using stock shocks?

gsrblack,

We just used the stocks for now since the car is so new (2000 miles) and they should be fine for about 25-30K. When I do replace them, I will definately do Koni Yellows.

darrinb,

YES!!!! The 3.5 is FINALLY coming out---this has been a pita because it is our first one and the customer wanted to do a lot of things that were not originally available, like pistons to lower the compression ratio from 10.8:1 down to 10.2:1 (boost friendly)....so we had to have them made from scratch.

TranceFusion,

Thanks!

Dean
why wouldnt you have just done the hole MDX piston /rod/crank and went with 10.0

typeR,

The static compression on the MDX block and the stock Type-S heads is 10.8:1. Since the customer wanted to eventually go with a S/C, we had forged pistons made to withstand the increased cylinder pressure--the rods have also been shot peaned (sp?) and the entire rotating assembly has been balanced to make sure it will withstand whatever we want to throw at it.

lou,

Thanks!

That's what I'm thinkin'. Gonna have to get some of the lighter stuff for the anthracite. Can't wait to finish the de-badging too. It's amazing what a few simple mods can do.
