Picked up SSR Comps, Recommend Drag Tire
I got 2 17x8 SSR Competitions at a steal. I plan to use them for track use only. Tire experts, please recommend a good drag radial. I'm not really looking for slicks (I'm afraid I'll break something). I just need a meaty tire that will give me superb traction off the line.

Used, 125 each, had only been on the previous car for 2 weeks, so they are practically brand new.
I guess I should toss in there please recommend a tire size as well.

I loved the T1Ss I had prior to the crappy nittos I have now. I absolutely loved them. If I get 2.0x 60', then I'll be very happy, and I don't doubt the T1Ss can provide that.

If your just going to use them at the strip you should probably get some drag radials. I think BFG, Mickey Thompson and Nitto all make specialized street legal drag tires. You may also be able to find slicks but I don't recall seeing any in a 17. 235/45 would probably be the best size for drag tires. Going real wide won't gain you a lot. The key with drag tires is to get as long of a contact patch as possible. You also want a tire with a softer sidewall than a tire that's made for cornering which most of the drag radials should have.

I have Nitto 555R Drag Radials, but I've only made two passes with them, so I can't really comment on them.
They're 225/50/16, mounted on TL rims. I think they were allmotor's, when he had the turbo on his CL-S, so maybe he can comment.
