Picked up my new car!!

Pic is below. I just wasn't happy with my gas mileage.. so I got a commuter. Bright red Suzuki Aerio. I don't have the bling bling rims though... just silver ones.

LOL..just kidding.... it's actually only my car for a week or so while my tranny gets fixed. I thought I may have beat it since I have 43k miles... but it started going last week so I dropped it off to PAA Monday. Oh well.

I had one of those as a loaner a couple weeks ago - it was the biggest piece of crap I have ever driven. Suzuki makes awesome bikes, but they need to get the hell out of the car business.

As much as I complain about getting ecomony loaners (Echo, Neon, and Escort), it makes me appreiciate my CLS alot more when I get it back.

I have a Dodge Neon as a loaner, getting my tranny replaced aswell. No more than 10 miles form my dealer this past Tuesday, a damn 80s Accord riced out and painted pumpkin orange began F@#%ing with me on route 32 and then 97 towards Annapolis. That neon is SO slow, he just kept on jumping infront of me and slamming his brakes!! If it wasn't for all the paperwork, and the fact I had two ladies in the car (we were going to the boat) I would have just rear-ended him in my Enterprise Rental.

I hate 4 cyl. cars, I need my type-s back-

lol that is so wrong they put you in that thing. reminds me when I had my probe GT in for a replacememt tranny and ford put me in a baby blue 'aspire' with pink pinstripes. it was a very humbling experience.

Suzuki makes a good outboard. My Suzuki has more HP than that thing.

Hehe.. thanks for the replies guys.

My tranny started slipping last Monday (10/27)... so I called PAA mid-week (just to make sure I wasn't seeing/feeling things) and made an appointment for Monday. Surprisingly my car was ready yesterday... so I picked it up this morning.

The Aerio wasn't horrible. The good news was that I got to save money on gas b/c I was probably getting close to 30mpg in that thing. It was not the 155hp AWD version, but it did the job and honestly, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. It was actually quite peppy from 0-20mph!

You're all right though... I'm very happy to have my car back. She's running nice and smooth... but I have to take it easy for a bit b/c I have to get used to the bigger car again. that should take about a day or so

sorry to hear about your troubles juniorbean! this tranny nonsense is dishartening! I am really in love with my mom's '03TLP, but with all the guys online that have lost tranny's, I'm really doubtfull, we'll keep this car, after the lease is up! We do have the extended waranty though, and I'll hate to turn it in with such low miles, and after all those payments, without owning it! kindda sucks! however, I'm wondering if the tranny failures could be due to the mods you guys through on? juniorbean, do you feel that your tranny would have went anyways, if you didn't have the mods?(especially headers). also, do you think you abused your tranny?(harsh launches, dragstirp time, etc)? do you think type s has a higher failure rate than type p due to the extra horses? I really don't know what to do, at this point. turn in the 03tlp at the end of the lease, and just walk away and get something else, or own the car, and hope that the fact that its a stock type P(35less ponies), will keep the tranny running over 100K miles?

The tranny would have gone regardless of mods. It's a defect that is affecting about 5% of TLs and CLs... nothing you can do about it. many of the cars that have had the tranny's go were stock, so it really doesn't matter. I did not abuse my car at all.. no hard launches, went to the strip once.. but didn't torque brake or anything.. just ran it like on the street. I also do not think there is a difference between the TL-S and the TL-P... they can both go at any time since they're both using the same tranny.

The good news is that you have a 2003 TL... so.. unless it's an early production 2003... you should be in good shape. If it's an early 2003, then you may be at risk... but then again you may not. The stats are on your side.... but who knows what will happen. The good news is that Acura has the problem solved (apparently), so I should be good for a long time. The first few batches of trannies were not fixed (which is why some people had multiple replacements), but they appear to be now... so I feel comfortable that my car will last for a long, long time.

Hey, at least that Aerio has a bodykit. How many loaner Neons, Escorts, and Aspires have bodykits? It's a step above, the bonus you get for Acura service
