I searched on the forums about tinting but the thing i could not find was a picture of what the brake light, the one right behind the windshield would look like when it was lit when the window is tinted. I know that it is illegal to cover up your breaklight with tint. I don't have a spoiler, so this will be a problem, i was just wondering how bad it would be when the brake light is lit when window is tinted. Will it be that bad and the light is very dim when light behind tint? I was hoping to find a pic of the light lit up behind a tinted window. If someone could post up a pic that would be great. Thanks

 

It is not illegal to cover up the 3rd-brakelight with tint in California. It is illegal to cover the MAIN brakelights with any type or material, clear or tinted.

I have my rear window tinted limo (5%) and the brakelight shows only a slight decrease in the intensity.

 

here it is...it's just the pic of the back tinted..my spoiler brake light is the one that works but it shouldn't be too dark with it tinted

 

Yeah go ahead and cover it, the 3rd brake light is there in case one of the taillights go out. I had 5% on my taurus covering the 3rd brake light and you could def still see it at night, just not as much during the day. I have a spoiler on my cl-s, so I cant really help with a lit pic.
