My 01 CLS bought in July of 00 had a perfect record of being trouble free; until yesterday. Yesterday the drivers seat stopped reclining. I can hear an electrical noise coming from the seat, but it won't recline anymore. At 59.4k miles the car almost made 60k miles of being trouble free. Tranny folks I feel your pain, but a broken reclining seat is all I have to complain about!

Are you going to get it fixed? You're out of the warranty period, correct?

Ah...that will hurt you to the tune of $350... mine was the same like few weeks ago... Dealer fixed it under warranty it was at 47k miles. It seems that those motor have span life of 40-70 kmiles depending on how many times you used. I use mine twice each time I am in my CLS!

my seat did that, i fixed it in 5 minutes for free.

if the rails get misaligned... the seat stops working. you can realign the rails with a 9mm socket.

I've got the extended warranty, but to be honest I don't know if the seat is covered, or not? One of these days I'll take it in and find out. However, it is not worth $350 to fix it if it is not covered by the extended warranty!
