??? for people who got spings installed at a Acura Dealer

How much did they charge? My local dealer told me on the phone that they would not install Comptech spings. Today i was there and they told me they would, but i havent got a price yet. I was just curious to see what other Acura dealers around the country are charging.

Mine said a 3 hour job * $75/hr...so about 225 or so. IMHO it wasn't worth it to get them to install it...which is why I did it myself. Go grab a friend and pay him $20 and get him to help you...you can do it yourself.

Comptech springs and sways: $140.
No need for alignment unless you've been hitting curbs and potholes like crazy.

I had mine installed at Park Ave Acura.

Springs 298 + 220 install
Sways 298 + 75 install
4-Wheel alignment 50
Jens expertise = FREE

Total w/tax was a cool 1000-bucks

Shawn S

PS.....I DO NOT agree with the alignment statement by JRock above

Holy crap guys...you'd pay 3-4x as much as you did for springs to have em installed? Especially those sways...that was like a 20 minute job...most of which was spent jacking up the car! Man...I wish you guys had come over here...I would have installed em...charged you half as much...and used all that extra money to be some headers . Come on people...DIY or don't do it at all

Even if I got an alignment, I still come out cheaper than Shawn. Although, as I say, unless your car CAME misaligned, there shouldn't be a reason to get an alignment just getting the comptech springs and sways installed unless for some magical reason my car just happened to come out right and it doesn't always happen that way.

I had no tire wear problems. I did get an alignment after my coilovers went on though because the toe was whack and of course the uncorrectable camber which isn't too bad at my height, I just need to rotate the tires more often.

Not true. Any time you take apart the suspension just like what is involved in swapping sprigs, you need to get an alignment again. How will the alignment be preserved if you take the suspension apart and put it back together again?? After a drop some people skip the alignment, kill the inside of their tires within months and blame camber when it was most likely the Toe in that killed their tires which a simple alignment would have fixed as good as new. Toe in which you said you had to correct after you installed your coilovers has to be checked after a spring install as well.

If you dont believe us ask any mechanic or import shop. After dropping your car you should always get an alignment.

Mr Hyde:
Although an alignment may be a good preventative measure...as is when you hit a serious curb...both systek (Rick) and I have dropped our cars...brought it in for an alignment, and been well within spec...so yeah I agree it's a good measure...but not necessarily needed.

Austin519
p.s. - nice to see you on here bud Glad we have some good people coming over.

You may have been within spec, but most times people are not. My suggestion is to not gamble your tires(my 235-35 Toyo T1-S Proxes were not cheap) over a $50 alignment. Many get away, but many dont as well. Its like anything else; preventative maintenance for example. Many can get away with leaving their timing belts on for longer than specified, but some dont. Based on that though I surely wouldnt recommend someone go for it and see what they can get away with. Most shops after dropping a car or doing major suspension work strongly recommend an alignment(I do also), many good shops actually would just incorporate an alignment into their labor charges.

Oh yeah, I dont post much, but I d check out thsi board alot. I actually registered before you did. See you around.
